Hi all

Anyone heard as to when the planned new Trumpeter 1/72 Lightning will hit the shops of Blighty?

Soooooon, I hope!

Cheers, Saul

Hi Saul:

I almost ordered this kit (here in the states) but shied away due to its size and complexity. Good luck with the hunt and I hope that you could share the build process with us! Take care, Jeff

I haven't heard about this one Saul but it sounds interesting, are we talking about the American twin boom Lightning or the English Electric Lightning?

Either way I'm sure it will have come a long way from the old Airfix one!!

Hi Bunkerbarge

Hannants have three versions of the English Electric Lightning listed, priced at £16.99 I think (dunno how to put a link up yet!) in their future releases section, but no date as yet that I can find. Also I have stumbled accross chat about it on other forums (that I'm not a member of) and even someone posted up some CAD drawings of it, though they could have been from anywhere I suppose.

I hope it does get released, it would be great to have a really good quality 1/72 Lightning out there at last.

Cheers all, Saul

I know what you mean, I'm getting excited at the prospect of the 1/24th Airfix Mosquito but it seems to have gone dissapointingly quiet on this front recently!!

I have to say it seems a little steep at £16.99 for a 1/72nd fighter kit:smile8:

Is it made of gold or something!!!. Yes i know what you are going to say that the detail with Trumpeter kits are second to none etc, etc,. But really lets get back in the real world it is still very dear (in my opinion) for what is essentially a small fighter kit.

I bet i will stir up a hornets nest with that one!!!

Kind regards

Paul

Hi Paul

Yes you are right, Trumpeter kits are somewhat overpriced, especially when you think of the lataest Revell kits e.g the new Revell Gannet is by all accounts even better than the Trumpeter offering but is cheaper.

I think the price of the new Trumpeter Lightning should be the same as their Gannet.

But we will still buy it cos it's a good kit and it's a Lightning!

Cheers, Saul

John K.

I have just started building fine scale model airplanes. I'm trying to decide whether to build 1/72 scale aircraft or move to the 1/48. Does the larger size have significantly more detail overall, or just in the cockpit. In any event, I'm interested in hearing opinions from other model builders on this question.
