Hello folks

Well, it's been a long time coming, but does anyone know the actual release date and expected price of this beauty?

Sneak preview from Trumpeter here

So what do you think? Experiencing uncontrolled drooling like me? Has anybody seen any mag reviews yet, any bad reports etc?

Cheers,

Chris

....answers on a postcard....

Walk around the Harrier

Well, no responses to this one so far, no wonder as I tried the link and Trumpeter's website is down... oh well. So does anyone know when it's due for release?

Well today I had the honour to walk the deck of HMS Illustrious and took some beaut pics of the Harrier II up close. Just look at the weathering detail down the fuselage. Also scuff marks from shoes as they have slid off the wing!

Any case, I have more pics of Lynx, Merlin, Seaking helicoptors as well as Illustrious exterior and interior! More goodies like a 500lb laserguide bomb with all the trimming. Can set up another thread on request.

Take care,

Chris

Yeah, invaluable reference pics for others and myself heh... I wish they would release the 1/32 Harrier II as at that scale you could really get into the detail. A good reference website I go to is Prime Portal which is a benefit, but nothing like seeing it for yourself eh? Yeah, I think its great if we all can share as much piccies as we can and if you want them in better resolution, I can always mail direct. Cheers Tony.

Yup, been to the Scale Modelworld and what did I find? The elusive Trumpeter Harrier II! ...oh and a Swordfish! Well chuft with the purchases and look forward to the builds though the wife says I can't have them till xmas day.... hehe! Oh well, plenty of research needed which will take time. Would love to convert the Harrier to an RAF version somehow, though the kits a brand newy and US decals only.

What a day, the place was packed but all in good spirits - had many an interesting conversation with fellow modellers. The competition entries were amazing with incredible detailing and imagination but I was also in luck as the gold winner was also the same Harrier kit. So something to aspire to.

Somewhat brassic now after these purchases but I'm still buzzing from today's events. Shall post separate threads for both builds but here are a couple of pics of the kits and the finished professional versions too!

Cheers

Chris

hi chris, im sure it wont be long before the decal companies get a sheet out for british harriers, btw did you get the elusive typhoon,or isnt it out yet? looking forward to the builds cheers tony

Wotcha Tony

Yeah, Revell had the Typhoon rotating on display, behind 2" of bullet proof finger smugged glass, all glossy and sparkly... but alas, it's delayed till after the new year as per Revell's representative said. So, have had to put that one to the back of my mind and go for the Swordfish instead. hohum. Who do you think will sell decals for the Harrier? I might start on the Swordfish instead and await the decals to come out in time.

Cheers

Chris

hi chris, my moneys on hannants own brand xtradecal, they were pretty sharpish getting the sheets out for the trumpeter 1/32 lightning. Looking forward to seeing the swordfish,by all accounts its a great kit ,fantastic history behind the plane too, should be fascinating doing research on it . cheers mate tony

Thanks Tony

Shall have a look at Hannants; appreciate the advice - heh I'm gonna need it for these kits! Hannants were there as well but I didn't think about asking them, there was just so much to take in.

I've started reading up on the Harrier II and bought the Airdata 3 reference book, so plenty of reading to be done.

Oh, heres a couple of pics of the elusive Euro Typhie...

Chris
