I have recently joined and bought this 2022 Academy CH-53D 1/72.
This model is meant to be HMH-462 in Operation Frequent Wind in the 1970s, however, I want to build this helicopter for my dad who flew with HMH-463, not 462, in the early 2000s. The only decals in 1/72 that I can find online are for 1982 Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, not the more modern color scheme that is used. I plan on giving this to him once it is complete as a gift.
Here are two images of what I am trying to replicate:
Would it be viable to buy incorrect-colored HMH-463 decals and trace them out on some masking tape to paint, or is there some other way I can do this?
