Twenty years ago, production of the original Mini ended

WRT shortcomings, wasn’t the distributor originally located right in the splash zone at the bottom front of the engine? I seem to remember that wrapping it in a plastic bag was essential for reliable running in wintertime.
I think it was, I certainly remember sitting on the hard shoulder in a mates mini in a downpour trying to get something dry so we could get the engine running.
 
Count yourselves lucky, my nephew has one, guess who has to help him with it!
Great fun though, still wish I hadn't sold my 92 mini, that I bought new.
