discussion Two Second-Place awards, Sonoma County Fair

The Sonoma County Fair opened last Thursday, July 24, and runs through August 10. I wanted to get there opening day, but couldn't get transportation. Thursdays are "Free Day" for Seniors, else $12.00 USD general admission.

I discovered, to my horror, that my goods were poorly set up for the fair after the judging had taken place; my View Camera project was facing into the corner, so the audience couldn't see the front of the camera, only the rear! I helped the lady whom helped us find the exhibits to correct the setups.

The model of the McCann Submarine Rescue Chamber I could not believe; it was lying on its side! I fixed that, of course. The lady was glad I came in and "rescued" my exhibits.

I received a second-place (Red Ribbon) for each entry. There were not very many adult home-art model craft entries (the adult models had to be scratch-built, no kits). I never did find the 1st place entry in woodworking. Ribbons and checks are picked up at the end of the fair.

With a paucity of entries, there wasn't much worth taking pix of, besides which I was tiring and beginning to ache; would have been nice to photograph the 1st place in the models, a WWII bomber.

Next Thursday we plan to go again; my friend, whom drives me to the fair, was also very tired, and we concentrated on the job we found on hand, then went home to rest (I was traversing the exhibit hall in my new wheel-chair, also getting used to that). Well done John. Yes photos if you have any of your exhibits at the Fayre. Did you get any photos of the other exhibits ?

Now you say you have a wheel chair John. Hope that is all going well. When do you take the test

I can see a new model coming on here. A wheelchair. Are you still able to get around to doing your model making ?
