I happened to be in Chicago when they where moving the U-505 to it's new home, I was just looking at some photos on my PC and thought you might be interested in seeing these pictures if you haven't already.

I remember walking up to the chain link fence and getting bitched at by a very rotund black chicago cop. It was worth it though, you don't see a U-Boat being wheeled around just every day.

There was a temporary road surface laid down for the ramp, but the weight caused the wheels to dig in a fair bit, it all looked very dodgy indeed!
