Thanks boys. I'm chuffed you like the model thus far.
The thing is, I always build my stuff complete. Then if I destroy or set fire to any structures, I know I have more or less, the right amount of rubble and debris at the end of any destruction.
Not that I intend to trash this bit of work. That would be rather silly and a waste of good hours at the bench, now wouldn't it?!

Now no self respecting French dwelling would be without a Pigeonnier, so yesterday, I designed and built a simple structure and made it from foam board.
I showed it to the Missus and she said "Sorry, it's too big!" ............and you know what? She is spot on!
Now where is that scalpel....

Hi 'Big Box'!
When the farmer first made the thing, there were proper steps going up into it, but folks kept going up there and having all sorts of shenanigans when he was in the fields.
So he removed the steps and now uses a ladder to access the structure. There is a trap door accessible from the entrance to the courtyard. This can't be seen in the above image.....

Apart from a bit of detailing, the roofing is almost finished.
I'm sure that gunfire is getting closer.......

I've turned my attention back to the Pigeon 'ase.
I marked and cut the thing in two. removed the centre section and the top bit up to the roof join.
Then I stuck it all back together......
The present Mrs. Ron approves, so that's good enough for me!

One water wheel recipe....
Imagination.
Pencil
Plastic card
A bit of sprue
Four bits of summat plastic for the spacers
Polystyrene glue
Kiddies paint
Scalpel
Patience
Mark out yer wheel on to the card. Don't be too fussy about getting the segments all the same. I'm not.
Using a scalpel, cut out the wheel
I filed down the spokes a bit on the first and used it as a template to make the second one.
The second one....
Testing, testing.
Add spacers. It's up to you how you do this. This is my fourth wheel and every one is different.
You can just make out the wood grain. Use your scalpel or sandpaper to scratch the surface, then paint.
Roughly painted
The two halves glued to the spacers
Paddles cut from thin plastic card. It's up to you how many. I eventually cut 24 for this one.
Paddles stuck on with polystyrene glue.
Axle made from a bit of sprue.
All painted up.
Job done....
Just noticed, one paddle has thrown a wobbler!
Next up I'll set to thinking about the mill race, fish steps and the stream in general.
