Something unusual for you all.
A battery operated hand drill. But not just any old battery operated hand drill, oh no, a Tamiya drill, specifically made for drilling plastic model kits.
But, it comes in its own kit form, so you have to build it first!
So here's what it looks like out of the box.... The box first though...

Then here's the sprues.....

So it comes with the plastic kit making up the drill, mini electric motor, plus the various screws, gears, shafts, springs, electrical connectors, a little tube of grease, (not enough I found!)
Building it was pretty easy to be fair, the only really fiddly bit was putting a tiny, (and I do mean tiny) circlip on the shaft after fitting the first main gear. But with some patience, some swearing and some tweezer we got the little rascal on ok.
Pics of the build to follow....

Some pictures of the build.....
The first component, battery connections.

Then the motor mounted on the battery connections.

Trigger mechanism fitted.

Main gears/shafts also fitted...

Then I lubed the gears with grease. the little tube that comes supplied with grease literally had a tiny, tiny amount, so a trip to the garage to get a bit more, so it was liberally applied where needed to all moving parts, then any excess wiped off.....

Almost there now, motor and battery connection all installed...

Finally installed the other half of the drill case and off to get some batteries....

Did a very quick YouTube vid showing the drill working and drilling through a small piece of model sprue.
See linky below.....
A nice easy little kit and you get a handy drill at the end of it, useful for maybe drilling out barrels, etc.
Once built it feels surprisingly sturdy. Obviously its not very powerful, only using two AA batteries, and the rpm speed is quite low. Could not find it listed anywhere, but I reckon its about 100-150rpm? But it drills through the typical plastic material we use quite easily.
Cheers (see YT link below)
