I really hope this works... not sure about how to put pics into a post. Anyhow, below is a picture of the USS Bataan. I am currently working on getting my hands on a Wasp Class Carrier that I am going to modify into the Bataan (LHD-5 not CVL-29). If anyone has a close up picture or one with better resolution of the section inside the yellow rectangle, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me a copy. I am doing this for the family of a friend of mine who is going to be deployed on her this Jan. I am really trying to get this dead on and I have never done anything like this before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bob

And that didn't work as well as I would have liked. I am very sorry about this... if you scroll down and look at the pic entitled USS Bataan (LHD-5) entering Port Everglades Inlet for Fleet Week 2005 military stock photo #5011 it has a much better picture. Again sorry and thanks again for taking the time to look at this for me.

The trouble is with the American Navy is that they are so secrative about thier ships and go out of thier way to prevent pictures being taken.

I have done a couple of dry docks in an American navy yard and if you get caught with a camera on you then you end up in serious trouble.

I can't help from my archives I'm afraid but I hope you come up with something.

I appreciate the effort. I am just hoping I come across someone that was on board during fleet week or who might have taken pictures while serving on the ship. There are so many out there that I have found. I just haven't gotten that one particular detail. But thanks for letting me know.

I know what you mean. A friend of mine was on holiday in the Bahamas a few years ago. A new ship was in port on its maiden voyage and the did tours. He asked why they never mentioned the Phallanx as part of the armaments and got frog-marched to the brig where he was questioned about it. Stephen is 5' 0" and said the shore patrol were all 6' 6"

They eventually let him go when he said that he worked in the factory where they are made and used to work on the production line.
