Hi there!

I don't like to ask it...because I hate the varnish....

Anyway I'm discovering my oils and Tru Metal test coats are really vulnerable, so I will need to protect them with a varnish coat on my finished build.

I have some bottles of acrylic ones (Vallejo) but I don't like the result. O_o

Are Humbrol a good option?

Humbrol isn't acrylic, not? Is a lacquer....

Or is better the Alclad one?

The reason to ask for a lacquer varnish is, my intention at the end of the build, polish all the set.... looking for a smooth final result.

Thanks for your help.

I have the Humbrol varnish and you have to ensure it is stirred ALOT...... and then stir it some more just to make sure.

Personally I'd go for the alclad one

Thanks Allyne ;)

So in your opinion is a "problematic" product....O_o

I think you have convinced me :) and I will take a look at the Alclad range.

All works habitual...gloss, matt and semi-matt?

Thanks again!

Thanks Patrick!

If is water based, is not a lacquer, not?

Anyone has prove the Mr Wax? Maybe is another interesting option!

I still have a few bottles of Klear. I went onto that after trying the Humbrol years ago. Maybe it's changed to how I remember it

Alclad do a water base clear coat. Think its called......drumroll...... Aqua.

This one is water based & I use it after Laurie & Barry W praised itView attachment 97269

It's pretty good, better than Johnson's Klear
I would have a go of Humbrol Clear Polux. It is very robust compared to Klear. It is not like Vallejo Varnish which is thickish comparatively. It is applied thin I have found best with an airbrush. Dries very quickly.

Takes a lot of wear when weathering and rubbing washes down etc. The more coats added the glossier it gets,

Laurie
