discussion Vostok 1 Airfix Colour question

Hey all!

Got a quick question!

I am waiting for my Vostok Rocket to come in the mail and want to get the colours ready!



J'>Vostok 1 (A05172) Model Kit and Accessories by Airfixust wanted to ask about the Black Green colour 91.

According to the picture im assuming this is the main colour of the rocket and will be purchasing it as a spray.

It is XF-27 as a paint tin here.

Humbrol 91 and XF-27 are both equivalents for the WWII Luftwaffe colour RLM 70.I'm fairly sure that it was not being sprayed to the original Reich Air Ministry specification onto Soviet rockets years after the war! The colour is a dark green and I'd say for your model you could use the darkest green available. I'm not familiar with the Tamiya sprays but TS-2 would be my bet. Don't use on of the Olive Drabs,they will be too brown.
