Im sitting here waiting for the post van I ordered something the other day and im waiting for it.

The company have no doubt sent it 2nd class to keep the cost down.

Yes I know I could have paid 1st class and would have got it as soon as.

The point is if the post office see its 2nd class what do they do throw it in the corner and when it suits put it out for delivery. There doesn't seem to be a fixed time table for 2nd class delivery.

The other day my wife was sent a card for mothers day ,the daughter didn't put the right amount of stamp on it by 9p.

The postman arrived at the door with the mothers day card and there was no one in so for the sake of 9p and he/she could see it was a greeting card put a notice through the door that they cudnt deliver it as no one was there to pay the 9p.So he/she took the card away. The notice said that the cost would now be £1.09 and I had to go up the sorting office to get it not until I handed over the £1.09p.

Why has our society become so hell bent on money??

How many letters/packages do I have during the year??

If it had been our normal postie he would have put it thru the door.

Come and live in Jersey Harry.

Postage 2/3 of price. Post 5:00pm there next day 10:00pm.

Also order any stuff from for instance a London address at 4:00pm and always received in Jersey 11:00am next day. Had the same from Scotland about 700 miles.

Pauline ordered 3 pairs trousers in 3 different sizes (very clever) which was a large parcel (big trousers o whoops) ordered late Friday arrived first thing Tuesday. In the flats we live in (Pauline insists they are apartments) the management team have an office and all parcels are taken in by them. They then inform us that there is a parcel to be collected.

Actually Harry I have a solution for you. Post via Jersey and all will be well.

Just add that John's stuff comes through in 36 hours and that is second class.

Had stuff from China (via E bay) delivered 5 days from pay-pal payment.

Card from across town (Hull Yorkshire) 5 days, however it does need to go to Sheffield first.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

My theory is that there are iddy biddy little small minded middle managers who are hell bent on targets and performance figures and statistics.

Bah humbug! I'm going to get on with me modelling.

Oh I cant

I'm waiting for some paint to be delivered.

Come on Post Office you make me see red. :D

Harry post them a complaint. Make it long.

Then chuck it in the post box "with out a stamp".

As they will think they are going to get double the stamp's worth from the receiver it will get there as priority.

In all seriousness Harry why not try John's SMShop in future.

I get my stuff through on average 24 to 36 hours an occasional 48 hours.

Near 300 miles including across the sea. That is by the cheapest post. Others seem to be about the same.

Hate to say this Harry, but I placed two orders on ebay yesterday morning with different suppliers. Both parcels arrived this morning - 2nd class!

Maybe I should put my delivery prices up, you would have got 1st class and change for the price you paid for 2nd, it might not be the fault of Royal Mail it might the the supplier not got round to sending them yet, I've just changed to Royal Mail 24 & 48 instead of 1st and 2nd, they said they aim to deliver in 24/48hrs, but isn't that the same as 1st/2nd class?

I work for RM. I must say, that most of the delayed parcels are items "marked as posted" but sent 2-3 days later. I've experienced it couple times and was wondering what's happening. As I can see every day, that our office is cleared every day, soooometimes, but rarely there are some big packets left for next day, but that's only when it's really busy or due to unexpected circumstances, such as fresh sicks etc.

John, you're right. 24 = 1st class, 48 = 2nd class, but the aim is to deliver 24 in one working day, and 48 in three days.

I'm not saying that whole RM is spot on service, but I'm really suprised when I see people saying that RM is basically shite.

Harry, about the underpaid postage, I'm absolutely with you. When I see all this cards with underpayment on it like 0.06 and a pound on top for handling I feel like.. Ughhhh! But please don't blame your postman. It's the sorting machine that rejects underpayed letters. If you're absolutely sure that your parcel was sent and five days passed, make a complaint.

I used to stock them but they didn't sell, I only stock the sets now which sell well, I have thought about stocking them again but it's a large range and it might not be worth the outlay for how many I would sell

Bart I support you as I have admiration, as I have mentioned above, for the quality of service. For a package to travel through the UK sorting office including being transported to a depot then to an air departure airport then over a couple of hundred miles by air then through the Jersey sorting office and some parcels to be delivered in less than a day is remarkable. In fact it is doubtful if a passenger could collect a parcel and deliver it in person would be an achievement.

Actually I have found very little difference between first and second class mainly because the second class seems to be first class in all senses.

Laurie

I live in Belfast and generally the postage is very good , some times people say that they have posted the package when they haven't and do it a day or so later but you are doing the countdown and no package iv ordered a parcel from say china or Australia and 5-10 days later hey presto , order something local ie uk and it goes round the world for a short cut

I have had parcels from John four days after he has sent them, but the normal is about a week - six days.

I had a parcel from Jutland arrive today, that was posted yesterday.

Sounds like your pack has gone walkies.
