Recently become a water freak & just wonder what others do.

Air Brush Cleaner.

Hand brush cleaner.

Special things for decals Micro stuff.

In all the cases above I use just your plain old water & gain the same results & without the smell or expense.

I do use all the above when the situation becomes acute for some reason or other but that has become rare.

Not had any problems with my airbrush. Similarly I am getting great results with decals using just water.

Came about really as I do not like stinky chemicals & paying for the stinky things.

Laurie

PS only use water & a bit of soap to shower in. None of the speciality smelly things. No body has complained----- yet.

Goodness me I live a pure life ????????????

yep awesome wit and some quick thinking. :)

loreal adverts have the catch phrase "because you're worth it"

 I forgot to reply to the question.

Erm, For Acrylics I use both water and Vallejo's airbrush cleaner. I also use their thinners.

Water does the trick but I found that the brushes are a lot easier to clean with the cleaner, both airbrush and hairy ones. I found that when thinning with water, if thinned to much the pigments in the paint would split out and the adhesion was terrible.

Decals. sorry another micro scale fan. use the lot. love it and wont even try anything else again.

Wise move Ian. One thing I do not do. Vallejo acrylics thinners has all the ingredients that the paint has.

Put a large drop of water & a similar drop of Vallejo thinners on a piece of plastic. Leave to dry. Not a mark of the water but try to remove the results of the Vallejo.

Similar do not use Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner as a thinners as it is baseless & evaporates as does water.

I must add that the finish is also a lot smoother with the thinners and I have even gotten away with decals direct onto the paint with out any gloss coat and zero silvering!

I would never dream of using the cleaner to thin with. It might work, as I have read but its made to dissolve paint not bind it.

Old Spice rules!!!

Stella Artois Ian. Much smoother, no thinners needed, endless enjoyment, never mind the silvering it is pure gold, dissolves the stress & definetly smells better than Old Spice.

This is very interesting for those who'd like to understand a little about the chemistry of thinning paint

Sorry, Laurie. Just my sometimes tenous sense of humour! And this from a former Hai Karate user!

I would never apply a decal without micro sol and micro set. Since using them I have never had a decal tragedy. When I built my 2009 Belgium, F16 Tigermeet (picture is in my gallery) the decals were a nightmare. Couldnt have done it without my chemical buddies. The way I see it is that you only get one shot at getting the decals on right, why take a risk.

Very interesting article Andy. Takes a few readings to get around it all.

No need to apologise Keith. I am not losing brain cells they just on occasion migrate then return later. Such a day yesterday. Keep them coming I may be lucky next time.
