We're off. RAF Sea King HAR

Thanks Rick, I had actually forgotten about that!!! (Doh).

Just noticed on RN Kings, the tinting is predominantly blue!! But as mine is a RAF King - Green it will be!! :thumb2:
Maybe check your references than
Either way, blue or green the application is the same, apply the tint on the inside for a nice clear finish on the outside when you demask.

I just added a sketch for your landing gear issue.

Landing gear is a grand fix. For the next one, ASW SK, I'll remember that one. Obviously the Junglie wouldn't need it. Mentioning Junglies, the upper canopies are a light green, however, on all my pics of ASW Kings they are a lightly tinted blue.

Agggghhhhhhhhh, cock up today. Assembled the clear canopy today. Thought!!!! I had everything lined up and correct!! WRONG. I took a pic of the fitting and when I was checking I noticed a horrendous gap on the port side. So I guess tomorrow will be trying to remove the offending part and correcting the stupid error.
I wouldn't ride but I dry assembled it about three times!!!! Really annoyed with myself.

I've had that sort of trouble - parts that fit perfectly, until you put cement on them!
Pete

DONT get annoyed Doug as its not worth the stress as i had the same thing happen on my working seaking an then to make matters worst i treid to fit a window wiper on the cockpit as i fitted one great but the other one rolled onto the clear glass with c/a smearded over it an i was angry but its done no good gettin upset an in your case a little filler an no gap

It has annoyed me Chris but not to the point of binning it!! As I said to Pete - 'frustrating'. Just ordered some filler, somehow I didn't think Pollyfilla or plaster would suffice!!!!

WELL Doug i use plastic wood filleron any gaps as it goes off hard soon an it easy to sand down

I think the reason I get annoyed and frustrated is I don't have the skills yet, (or materials), to fix any 'glitches' I make or encounter. Knowing the work rounds are half the battle I would guess! I ordered some Mr Surfacer from John, it seems to have worked for a few on here so I thought I'd give that a go! Nothing ventured nothing gained and again - all part of the learning experience!!!

YES Doug it is as ive been modeling now for 60 odd yrs but im still learning off all the guys on this forum as thats what make this forum so good

Must admit, being on here I have learned a lot, I just need to put what knowledge I'm gaining to practice. The guys on here have been invaluable. I would have just dived in, glued it together and daubed paint over it. Seeing what can be done has driven me to slow down, and take a bit more time to tidy up the parts and make for a better fit.

You still having time off away from Tiger!!! Have to tried to see if there are any decals that could be used for your crest? Also - 814 Naval Air Squadron was Nickname the 'flying tigers' maybe a suitable decal maybe found from any kit with their Sea Kings!! Just a thought.

chrisb

Just a thought Chris. The Ship's crest is three dimensional - have you considered buying a metal pin badge and having it scaled down and copied by a friend with a 3D printer? You could use the pin to decorate the title plate your masterpiece deserves!

I've been scouring a few sites looking for decals of either HMS Tiger or the 814 the Flying Tigers 1/72 - no joy so far.

That's given me a few ideas of where to search. :thumb2: I like the idea of possibly getting it 3D modelled too!!!

Shame about the canopy gap. With patience you should be able to fill it. Protect the clear part with masking tape before you start.
The best thing for stress and frustration is a cup of tea, a few chocolate Hobnobs and a liberal sprinkling of bad language - works every time ;)

It's a MayDay on the Hobnobs but we are Bourbon capable!!! Tea is a given in times of high stress. (In times when stress isn't high actually).

My dogs have been my stress relief! I just walk away from whatever is getting to me and spend time with them - now the puppy. Down side with the pup is she's teething and the digits get it!! Which doesn't help with precision later!!!!

Ive had similar with an old Italeri Wessex kit.I.love Seakings and Wessex.Ive even got the tiny 1.144th Sweet Seaking kits.Boy oh boy are they tiny.I might post some images to show the motley crew here.
