what do you think had themost impact on our world in the last 100 years is it flight or maybe the pc or a cure for a disease just a whim to see where we are comeing from

or maybe the theory or relitivity

i mean learning that time is relevent and we all have "our own time" is amazing, mind boggleing, but amazing!!

Almost impossible to pinpoint one item amongst the whole industrial revolution as it is all part of the evolution of our world.

Such significant items though as the development of welding techniques and the significant advances in metalurgical procedures and designs have revolutionised the aircraft, automobile and shipping industries not to mention civil engineering and just about everything else we build.

If we were to think of one thing that has changed all others though it would have to be the developement of the micro-processor and the computer industry.

But some believe it was a hoax, there are both strong cases for and against that theory, but I guess that's another thread

I think it's hard to say what has had the most impact, for me I would have to say telecommunications and the Internet, you can contact almost anyone anywhere in the world within a matter of seconds, but I'm sure there will be a lot of other answers for this one

I'd also say the microprocessor/computer. Nearly everything we use these days contains some variant of it, and if they all stopped working tomorrow, we'd be left in chaos!

Also, i'd say the internet aswell without a doubt, it really is mindblowing when you think about the complexity of it of the amount of things it's changed. Although, some for the worse rather than good!

Anything that is designed to serve mankind can be put to good or bad uses,just look how wars have utilised technology and at the same time advanced it,if it had not been for the second world war then the jet age would have been a late starter as the piston engine had been developed to its peak,then the Vietnam war advanced the rigid rotor for the helicopter bringing rotary wing flight to the fore and benefitting the civil helicopter market,certainly as far as my own lifetime the advances in communications must have had the biggest impact on our lives,there again you could say for good or bad because whilst the world is now a much smaller place for everyone,it brings home tragedy and grief at lightning speeds,those same speeds are used for the good of our lives in such things as satellite navigation to guide the ambulance to the scene of the problem,whatever man designs for the good purposes that it was intended,somebody somewhere will corrupt it for other purposes.
