Where do I start???

I was an Art teacher, then ICT teacher for 34 years.

During that, I illustrated quite a few children's books and some science text books.

I was a signwriter for the JPS F1 team back in the 80's and went to countless races as part of the team.

Also did all the signwriting for the JPS F1 Tunnel boat team and became good friends with Bob Spalding until he died following a horrific powerboat accident.

Did the signwriting on many of the Transatlantic catamarans - Fleury Michon, Le Jaby Rasurel to name two.

Did all the gilding work on the throne for the Sultan of Bruneii back in the early '80's.

Did some animation work for the BBC on a film that never saw release - The Enchanted Sword.

I kept a lot of the artwork!

Illustrated loads of car calendars in the '90's, and wrote/illustrated some children's books.

In 2006 I had my first fantasy novel published - 'Worter on the Water'. A humorous tale.

I'm currently writing part 2.

I also co-wrote 'Shadowland - The Legend' - which is now a movie.

I'm contracted to novellise the next three films.

During all this time I've been a semi-pro guitarist and did session work with some 'names'.

A good few tunes out there have my guitar solo's on them.

Been on Top of the Pops twice.

I still work (occasionally now) as a cabaret tribute act/guitarist covering The Shadows, Gary Moore, Dave Edmunds, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits etc.......

I run a small Garden Railway business and design'produce all my own kits etc.

Currently building 1/8 model cars for a known company.

PHEW........ I consider myself lucky. I was one of those people 'In the right place at the right time'....

There still aren't enough hours in the day.

Currently working on developing a new DECENT 1/8 kit of the E Type Jaguar.

More on that soon - hopefully.

Roy.

Just completely amazed at all the people on this site.

If only politicians had the skills, expertise & background of the members, maybe they could sort out this countries problems. ;) ;)

They probably became Politicians because they were no good at anything else.

Blimey...After all that, you can still walk, talk, play guitar AND build models...I'd struggle to breath o_O

Many thanks you guys....

I have to add though - last year I won Silver in the New York book awards, and runner up in the San Francisco awards.

Nominated for Readers Digest award this year........

I still say I was just in the right place at the right time for most things.

Life is full of luck and opportunities.

When it comes your way, grab it. It might not come around for a second lap.

I can see why you're so good at modeling what a great and interesting life not to mention talented. Where do you find time for modeling. You don't own a time machine do you.

As already said to you kind guys......

90% luck - right place, right time.

Mind you - I forgot to mention my 1972 MGB GT - ended up as a 3-page spread in the MG Mag after I spent a year restoring it about 20 years ago.

After that, I did a 1974 Triumph Spitfire.

My 'dream' is an old E Type. I kick myself for passing up a nice 'driveable' series 1 and a half coupe (E type people will understand) for £13,000 only 18 months ago.

Probably worth about £30,000 now.........

Life is short - keep busy.

Roy.
