discussion What was your worst purchase ? how badly damaged was it ?

Can you believe two aerosols delivered in this state due to sloppy packaging,not only was the parcel soaked in red paint but the poor postmans bag had suffered too,sending aerosols like this is dangerous with no external protection,paint all over the place,seller was not very helpful either and had the nerve to say he had packed them well,sellers continue to send out vulnerable items in jiffy bags and flimsy packing like this was wrapped in a plastic bag,what was your worst purchase and how badly damaged was it ? horror stories in the post.

Sometimes an extra piece of safety plastic is mounted below the spray nozzle, but not in your case I assume...


Mine was also recent, I already posted the picture a few weeks ago. Most parts are ok but all the clear parts are crushed and I can't find any spare parts...

*I started a case on paypal, but in the end I had to send it back to the seller in China to get a refund of about 75%... Due to the high shipping cost and fed up with the whole case I decided to keep the damaged kit and fix it myself.

I’m surprised once Hermes knew what they were they didn’t destroy them, it’s against their t&c’s to send them, the seller is trying to cut costs just using a bag, we use double walled boxes and we don’t always but should do, is fill the void with vermiculite to soak up any spills.

My worst purchase was a 1/48 Dragon Ju188 A-1 Racher kit with one whole sprue missing. Because i bought it second hand off evilbay Dragon wouldn't allow me to buy a replacement sprue and for some reason to this day i cannot fathom out, evilbay did not give me a refund (this was years ago though). So here i have a kit that needs a whole sprue and still need to find a way of getting it.

Ouch ! that has had some impact to do that kind of damage,transit damage is getting worse and costly too,I sent a beautiful wooden hand built B-29 model to the USA and on arrival it was smashed to pieces,as the seller I had to re-imburse in full over £100,Royal Mail never paid up either just sent a book of stamps,the reason was that I could not prove value but they ignored EBay listing which should have been sufficent proof on the value,this is the way they get out of paying up as nobody has a receipt for a built up model ? disgraceful really their attitude.

Hi, one experience I had was some paint sent from China, took ages to here anything. Then one morning in the post arrived a letter from UK Customs asking me to contact them regarding this delivery, when I contacted them it was explained to me that when it had been scanned by xrays it had looked suspicious ( several cans inside parcel) and had been removed to a safe area and a robot had blown it up, apparently paint went everywhere, they now had a multi coloured robot. To say I was shocked is an understatement but I had to laugh, fair play to the seller he did offer to send a replacement but I declined his offer.
Won't be doing that again.

Does the UK importer sell loose sprues? I have no idea if they do, but you could ask.

I once had a similar problem with a Tamiya M113, which was missing the whole sprue with the hull roof. However, I had bought the kit in a shop and took it back; when I showed the shop assistant the problem, I just got a replacement kit. Afterward, the thought occurred to me that I should have offered to buy the deficient kit for a reduced price

Not a modelling item, but Mrs R took a parcel from the delivery man, who quickly legged it, she soon discovered why, the box containing 5 ltrs of PVA was split. Having ruined her skirt and covered the hall floor she was not amused ! .
The supplier replaced the glue, I noticed the next one was doubled wrapped .

It was the UK importer that i went through. I'd really love to build this kit so might chase up Dragon directly.

Hi, was the Dragon Models distributor The Hobby Company in Milton Keynes, if so I have contacted them about parts my dog ate, they were helpful to me, give them a heartbreak story.
