I saw Dunkirk two weeks ago with my oldest son and I don't know if it was because of all the hype or not but damn what a slow-paced film, and when it was finally over I felt disappointed.

My son had a great comment and that was -"Dad, how could the plane fly for so long with the engine turned off in the end of the movie?"
-"Hollywood" was my reply and he grinned

Not a movie I will see again for sure.

Not a movie I will see again for sure.

I was pretty disappointed with it too.
I know it's not supposed to be a documentary, but it is supposed to be entertaining. I was neither educated nor entertained!
It started quite well, went into a bit of a trough and then steadily downhill from there

Yeah when that spitfire glided for like 10 min, looking so unrealistic it was laughable, then landed perfectly, the movie was ruined for me.

Not to mention that the clip with it burning on the beach and the propeller was clearly a broom handle, not a semblance of a Merlin engine in sight.

He seemed to spend a long time pumping the U/C down too, though I was too bored to count. The pilots notes do say 'about 30 full strokes may be required to lower the undercarriage'.

I like lots of war films but always watch Where Eagles Dare when it comes on, I just love it.

This is exactly what I thought although I might buy it on DVD to give it another chance sometimes I prefer a film second time round

I like a lot of foreign language war films. Have lots of Russian films in there the star (zvezda) is great as is generation war

Good to hear on the saving private Ryan. 2s beginning to think that I was the only one here who liked it....
Black Hawk Down is like the modern equivalent of that film though
