There was a post from a guy called Dan, forget his logon name, saying he had found a shop in Oman with a loads of Tamiya kits and he had bought the lot. He offered some for sale and I was welcoming him to the forum and asking him about the kits and the post disappeared ?

Did anyone else see it or am I just imagining things.

Tony.

I saw it too tony i put a post on there, can't even trace it back at all.

Thank goodness, thought I'd fallen in to an alternate universe for a moment :noidea:

Tony.

I believe that I have been the only one in being able to write something...

Nonetheless I think that it was not exactly an introduction.....

Well Tony, I think the answer is in your question.

He was a new member selling over the forum. I can imagine that the post was deleted by "the management"

Ian M

Well atleast that's cleared things up :) Thanks Ian now me and Tony are sure were not hallucinating :P

Thanks Ian, the post disappeared so suddenly I wondered why. Conundrum sorted.

Tony.

It went to the "Hi I'm only going to post once to sell me stuff then never come back" forum, it was reported by a member as spam and I agreed.

As it should be John.

Most forums have a rule regarding selling, (those that allow it), that the seller must have created a login, been active for a set period and have posted at least 10 constructive threads and replies to the forum.

Quite fair and stops these 'house clearance johnnies' from circumventing ebay listing fees to get shot of a stack of NOS kits, (which is generalising but oftentimes that's indeed what this is), most, i've seen on other forums start with the introduction, Hi, i'm new to this thing and have been left a stack of kits by my kindly wonderful old granddad and they're not really the kind of thing i'll build etc, they then go on to list in decent detail the kits and say, I really don't know about these things so make offers, next thing you know someone has offered a fiver for that hard to get tamigawafixvell 1/25000 kit of the moon or whatever and lo and behold, this new guy it seems has done his (ebay) homework and knows what it's worth.

You're actually very considerate allowing sale posts given that you run the forum and the shop, Hitchcocks motorcycles, (Royal Enfield spares), run their own forum but state, as a spares supplier we will only allow the sale of complete motorcycles, any parts sale post will be removed! to be frank, I don't believe thats unfair, (i'm not suggesting you change the ruling, this forum is probably the friendliest I know for models and works very very well as is)

Hi guys that was me.

I'm sorry my thread was against the forum rules.

I'm a serious rc car collector, organiser and racer hence how I got the tip off about the lot of kits.

you've got a great forum and I hope I didn't offend anyone.

I'm not a spammer or scammer see my eBay feedback (same username) and Google Dan Rowlands rc you'll find me ;)

All the best.

Dan from Newcastle but in Muscat :)

I know only too well what it's like to be a model enthusiast, with these vintage R/C cars I spend hours on eBay US/UK/CA etc and on several forums scouring the world for that elusive belt or screw or washer......my wife goes mad!

Hi again,

I used to race back in the 1980's in Longbenton, Newcastle upon Tyne and also in Hexham. I raced a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid and recently started restoring all the models I wanted as a kid, here's some pics of my current collection:

Here's my restored 1985 Kyosho Ultima:

My Tamiya Super Astute:

and my 1985 chain drive Turbo Optima, 1987 Optima Mid, 1988 Turbo Optima Mid and 1991 Lazer ZX-R Mk2

:)

That big recollections ....!!

Even I have in house the Ultima and the Ultima mid!!! They was very entertained!! And of course a Kyosho fan.... Kyosho for ever!!!

With them I did some races, if I don't remember badly few ones we could buy the electronic variators (Novak, of orange color) and the engines Trinity!! We were a group that enclosed in the engines of petrol we were putting drops of ink to change her color ... other teams were hallucinating and trembling (what we wanted), since they were thinking that it was better or slightly very special!!!

It does very little I returned to compete with Buggy of petrol, approximately two years long, with a Kyosho mp9.

I recalled those indelible races!!!

Very nice collection, congratulations!

Cheers. Polux
