This may have been done before. Or could be found if you troll through the posts etc but as a laugh and to show how broad our hobby is i will go first

6 car Nissan 200 sx S14a turbo (my second love) ( i know im shallow)

7 fav album Dark Side Of The Moon

8 Hates Hypocryrites, false promises and Shoplifters

9 Hobbies Modelling (obviously) Computing (games) astronomy, History, Metal detecting,photography,reading, and hifi (also whatever the flavour of the month is)

10 my best model 1/72 Amati U47 Uboat

ok here goes

Well I think you can all guess my name, thats right it's Tom :bash: ok then it's not.

I'm 37 I think, this is something I always have to ask the wife because I have a really bad memory

Married and 1 son aged 8

Job: IT Manager for an electrical wholesaler.

I drive a Mitsubishi Carisma GLX and it's got electric everything, I do like the comforts of home where ever I go :)

Food: curry, any as long as it's not korma

Drink: brandy & lager, doesn't have to be in that order or even both togeather

Album: I too like Pink Floyd, Dark side, pulse and animals, I like equally as much

Hobbies: Modeling, computers, web site design & programing

Fav model: I'm really proud of a Tamiya r/c car I made up for my son, looking forward to doing another.

marital status: still avoiding it but i`ve been cornered - engaged

no family

job: Motor vehicle Technician For vw Dealership

car: strangely enough i drive a Vw passat diesel

music: anything depending on mood

food : prety much anything, including korma :)

Hobbies : computers, modelling and photography

fav model: so far my engel lafayette sub.

OK lets keep the ball rolling then:

1) Me: Richard, age 48, married (third time lucky!), no kids (this time).

2) Occupation: Chief Engineer, Merchant Navy.

3) Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire.

4) Favourite Food: Indian food, genuine Italian food (lived in Italy two years)

5) Favourite drink: real ales and beers.

6) Car: MG Rover ZR

7) Album: anything that floats my boat but particularly Queen (Brian Mays guitar solo in "Who Wants to live Forever" hits the spot), old Bowie, Floyd, Genesis, more recently Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand.

8) Hates: inconsiderate and selfish people, the way this country is sliding into the same materialisticaly motivated society as the States is.

9) Hobbies: RC Boats, model steam engines, digital photography, motorcycling, woodwork.

10) Best model: always the current one which at the moment is a steam engined Irish Sea Coaster in 1/32nd which makes it just over four feet long, eight inch beam, four inch draught and displaces 32 pounds.

Thats me in a nutshell.

In a light hearted manner a short synopsis of Red Hamish as some might have seen me on other forums

5 Drink It has got to be Glen Garioch 15 Year old Single Malt but Tennents Lager would do otherwise

6 Car A trusty Peugeot 406 estate & when I get the chance, love to DRIVE the wifes' Mercedes C-Class Sport Coupe

7 Music Chris Rea, Battlefield Band, Sibelius Finlandia Suite, OK I know a very eclectic mixture

8 Hates Inconsiderate motorists ( I used to rep for 13 years and I've seen a lot of them about)

9 Hobbies Boats!!! of any scale, sort, vintage, condition and reading about Industrial heritage renovation or preservation

10 Best Model: I cannot claim to have made any good models but the one I'm most proud of so far is the American Pusher Tug "Red Hamish IV"

1/Barry is married,aged 60 and beginning to slow down a bit lately,you youngsters just wait and see !

2/Job a Carer.

3/Live in leafy Warwickshire.

4/Favourite food any seafood,Chinese,spicy Indian depending on my taste buds.

5/Favourite drink Guinness,with Southern Comfort as a nightcap.

6/Drive a trusty old Ford Escort but had a Nissan Prairie for 20 years plus.

7/Favourite music,anything classical,and Pink Floyd ( must be something in the air )

8/Hates,dis-honesty and the present need of the nation to want to get rich quick without working for it,ie all of these competitions etc where huge amounts of money is involved.Also litter bugs who make a mess of our beautiful countryside.

9/Hobbies,model building ( obviously ) painting/sketching landscape,writing,collecting etc,keeping my web sites up to date,computing and assisting others with same.

10/Favourite model,the one I built last.

To give the ball another push ...........

1. Iain, knocking on 70, married with one son age 32

2. Ex Chief Engineer Merchant Navy, now consultant in Risk Based Asset Integrity Management and rapidly approaching a second retirement!!

3. Location: Edinburgh west side

4. Favourite food : my wifes lamb stew

5. Favourite drink(s): Zinfandel and Laphoraig (not in the same session!)

6. Car: Toyota Avensis

7. Music: Trad Jaz (Firehouse Five etc.)

8. Hates: The 'I don't do .... brigade' and the 'Nice ...., but shame about .. ' followed by a list of destructive critisism.

9. Hobbies: RC model boats and gliders; model steam engines, OO gauge railways, photography, computers - programming & technical writing. Least favourite passtime - a haud carrier (haud this - carry that).

10. Best model: a 1m racing yacht built as an apprentice and later sold to buy college books. I'll never build as good a boat as that again, but I keep trying.

Why do Merchant Navy Chief Engineers end up playing with model steam engines?!!

Maybe its a control thing. There again maybe we are in with a chance of winning with our own engine. You would think we would be glad to see the back of them though when we get home.

8 Hates suppliers who dont keep their word

9 Hobbies Modelling boats, subs, gliders, older nitro cars more recently dabbled with N scale railway and now tanks, also spent several years as industrial and architectural modelmaker and special effects prop and modelmaker.

10 my best model is all of 'em.... each one is a learning process and so they are all valuable in one sense or the other, - probably the best model is my totally scratch built sunmersible, but the one i remember the most is a 27ft tall model of the empire state building !

Hi Richard,

Guess its all to do with being able to see the thing working! Somehow diesels and turbines etc. don't quite have the same romance about them. I just wish I could get my littleuns to work as well as the biguns used to ... Mind you, as eyesight gets poorer, so the models will get larger so watch this space !! :regards:
