Here's a "don't": I don't use Vallejo matt varnish. Despite good shaking it tends to produce white spots on drying (probably from a white powder used to make the varnish matt). I can't remember what I used for matt varnish - it's been a long time since I last needed to.

Im another 1 for Klear/pledge ,along with Vallejo or ak matt varnish
