It's probably a result of all those years at sea as a sailor!

But what happens if you're into Railway Modelling and wanting to meet an attractive female? Typical Railway modeller is 60 plus, pipe smoking, with a questionable fondship for knitwear...:music_too
It's called Marrying our friends wife. she has her own railway in the garden!

Love,

Now I have to stand up and be counted here. My missis is the most wonderful in the world because although she doesn't join in she has never complained about the time or the money I spend on my hobby. We regularly joke about the cost of kitchen toys and dresses/handbags/shoes/suitcases etc. but we both know that R/C gear and steam plant bits wins hands down!!

Thread owner
And we all know that money spent on Live Steam Plants and all those lovely fixtures and fittings is an investment too!

So you should really be buying more!

40 Sheds!!!!! *LOL* You lot will have to live somewhere else *Giggles*

Sorry Guys you are your worstest enemy. if you all perpetuate the myth that modelling is solely for the boys you are deserving in what you get.

I've battled for years to be accepted in the modelling world. No wonder we keep quiet.

I just wish sexism wouldn't exist in the modelling world but reading all your comments it saddens me to see it perpepuated:emo10:.

Pan Am,the world of model building is for everyone, thats what makes it such a great hobby, personally I could not care less if Granny Smith down the road makes plastic models, why should it be any different from women that paint pictures or play darts ? take no notice of the sexist comments they should know better, model building is 'not' the sole domain of men and never will be,here are some of the excellent efforts produced by good ladies in the past-

1/A flying model Avro Lancaster and Wellington bomber produced by a Leicester housewife, she even made scale hangars in the garden to house them.

2/ The full sized Spitfire recently shown on television is being made by a woman.

3/ The brass Mosquito shown at the Model Engineering exhibition in London, the workmanship was superb, and why not ?

4/ The large model Titanic made from card was by a lady model builder.

I could go on and on but will not, there is no doubt in my mind that Pan Am girl could give us a healthy run for our money in modelling skills,so make the lady at home and listen to what she has to say,you may learn something from her, stay put Pan Am as I said before your presence is a breath of fresh air.

I have a wonderful wife, she's the greatest and we are both working on lighing up my 240z safari car.

I now wish i had called this thread "Partners that are'nt into modelling comments"

In fact if there is a kindly Mod looking in,,,,could please change the thread title to the above (as i cant seem to figure out how you do it!!! I may be drunk tho :) ). Thus negating any unintended sexism.

Although I would get my arse kicked by both Pan am clipper girl and Aryanpink, this thread was titled "Wife comments" For those of us who have Wives, this thread is in NO way related to sexism but rather Wife comments. I in particular found this thread extremely supportive in that it validated some very real discussions between my wife and I concerning my new found love of this hobby, impacting both of our lives and the time it takes integrating into our marriage. I hope that this thread stays strong as my Wife and I read it almost daily.

Hi Everyone, my name is Kerin and I'm Desert Rat's wife I too thought this was a supportive thread for us wifes but maybe I'm wrong Desert Rat Racer is a very good model builder in his own right although not up to the par of some of you men out there he tries and I support him for trying, we are in the middell of building a 1/12th scale rally car and he has me doing the lights for it, it should look real good when it's finished as I am trying to get it so that the lights can be switched from a remote position via fine micro wires but we'll have to see how these stand up to the heat of electricity running through them. Keep up all your good work and be supportive of each other in this great hobby. Russell has know idea I've done this until he reads it on line next. He is my shining:knight:

Saw this old post and thought I'de add my misfortunate penniesworth.

My wife, thinking she was doing me a favour, recently bought me some paint for my "toy" models. She was pretty chuffed with herself, "as they were cheaper than the one's I buy and you get a lot more in them". Yes you guessed it - she got me some paint testers...!!

Well after I stupidly declined the offer, then the ensued heated discussion, they were actually used but it's looking like I'm painting the hallway this weekend...doh! :(

Well, we're both new to modelling eh?

What a coincidence this cropping up now.....

Last night my wife, whilst dysoning hit the leg of my modelling table sendind half the German army to the floor.....

"Please be more careful, dear" I suggested. Bad move!!!

"**** me, if it wasn't for your ******g models I ******g well wouldn't have to clean the ******g place so ******g much, lift yer b****y feet!!

" I suppose a s**g is out of the question then?" sez I.

" ****************** ." sez she:beer2:

Peace brothers,(and sisters)

Ron

And just 3 days ago my Wife knocked into the dog's kennel where my old Hellcat is resting and said "you don't want to look" Its not her kennel though. :lame:
