***Strange request today for one metre length of Meccano chain,apparently this was used in the Luscombe Silvaire elevator trim system ! I do know that this type of chain was used for laboratory test equipment but is no longer manufactured,the search continues to try and assist the owner.

I wonder how Meccano chain was incorporated into an American light aircraft ? it is not even hardened material ? the very same chain was used in the American Erektor sets,a direct copy of the Meccano system.

Barry,We need about 1 meter to be safe but about 2 foot 6 inch would suffice.

Wonwings diary-More uses for Meccano chain.

It appears that there have been other uses for Meccano chain,here a Mellotronic organ uses yards of this material for the various drives within the organ mechanism,the company ceased production in 1986 from its London W.1 headquarters,even the Meccano sprockets were utilised with slightly modified rounded teeth.

Another bizarre use is for the Stihl childrens chainsaws ! these little cuties are unable to cut through your best sofa unlike the real thing.

motorbike cam chains??? i know its not the same but they are very similar gauges etc....just a shot in the dark in case it helps?

If you had measurements i could check with the breakers for you!

ok i know this sounds daft , but i have a hobby's 2005 catalogue in front of me just now, and it shows chain with teh identical profile . unfortunately there is no picture on the website of this.

part no. D2449 , at £6 it may be worth a shot, it`s designed for use with geared pulleys.

Thanks Adz,I seem to remember this chain as when we had the shop we were an Hobbys agent,yes I am sure that it is the same product,will pass that info on.
