A Family member bought me this for Xmas :- Revell 1:72 Battle of Britain Gift Set with Paints

It has sat on the shelf for a while as I only really like 1:48 scale for aircraft, but this evening i thought i'd have a go at one of the models as I'm fed up of it looking at me.

I opened the Spit as it's the first model in the instructions, and was hugely disappointed with what i found, I knew it was going to be a very basic model as it's an inexpensive set, but I didn't expect the horrific quality of the moulding & fit (never mind the unbelievable amount of flash and a scale 9ft pilot)

After 5 minutes of looking at it I gave up (something I don't ever like to do, i normally consider it a challenge) - I'd post some photos but i have binned it, but trust me it really is bloody awful.

What's really sad is that this could easily be the sort of set someone new to the hobby might buy (complete with paint, glue etc) but I can't see how something like this wouldn't just put them off the whole thing.

I confess I haven't had time this evening to look at the other three, I hope to god they are better....if not then to be honest shame on you Revell. cheap models were not this bad when i was a kid in the 70's.

I think I'll have to nominate the Imai Firefly I built at the end of last year, closely followed by the Imai Sky 1 model I paid waaaaay too much for from eBay...

the airfix p51d mustang in 1/24 was my nemesis and has since crash landed in the bin.
