The wife and I are spending a short break in York. Today we went to the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. I can thoroughly recommend it. Loads to see, very knowlegeable and helpful volunteers, really interesting displays, well set out, and a nice cafe. If you're in the area it is worth a visit. I live near Cosford Air Museum which is superb and while Elvington is not as big and pehaps less "glossy" it is certainly worth the entrance fee. We spent 5 hours there and could have easily spent more. (although I do think the missus was getting slightly fed up)

It is a great museum Jim. When I went they were playing music from the 40s over the loud speakers situated around the site. It was like stepping back in time.

Glad you had a great day out there Jim 😊.
I’ve been a couple of times in the past and was very impressed with it.

Today we visited Eden Camp. (https://edencamp.co.uk/) Truly excellent in every respect. Very well done and very informative. We got there at 10.30 and were just about the last to leave and could have spent even more time. An added bonus is that the onsite cafe serves most munchable chips :D Definitely recommended.

It is very interesting and so much to read we came back next day for a couple of hours with the 12 month ticket.
You were lucky to have visited in the summer, we went there in October and it was freezing.
People were huddled under the single heater in the chapel hut, even the POW's had pot belly stoves.

Never been to Eden Camp but Elvington is a great place, the only intact HP Halifax is certainly worth seeing. Reading this, I now feel the need to visit again, anyone else up for a trip to York?
