Hi

After the relative success of my SAS figure bust - I've made a start on this one...

First the figure itself - just 5 pieces of nicely cast resin - a few casting blocks to tidy up

And the PIAT - a kit in its own right - 24 parts

Putting the PIAT together - I had to pin several parts together with some brass wire (trigger guard, spigot etc) - the slings are self-adhesive aluminium tape
textured by running the collar of my modelling knife over the tape. The hoop around the muzzle is some thin aluminium strip as the resin part is distorted

And my initial attempt at the head/beret - the close up photos show up a few things to tidy up

The beret seems too red in the photos but in normal light is more of a maroon colour

Looking very good indeed Mark. That PIAT looks like a labour of love!

The PIAT - there's some dispute as to whether they were green or dark earth - from the photos online it could be either - unfortunately most of the
pictures show restored versions...

I really like the texture idea for the webbing- definitely a steal there!
Looks like a good start to a very nice figure

Examples of the tape treatment:

top one is the bare tape (self-adhesive aluminium plumber's tape from DIY store) - works well for webbing or even non-slip flooring.
I sometimes use the coarse tool at the bottom to texture milliput or green-stuff putty one vehicles - quite effective for rolled netting
