I have heard that fumes from CA can fog clear parts. Not come across this glue though so can't help, sorry.

Thanks chaps for the support and your thoughts. The glue in this case it not a superglue but more about that in a post to follow. I normally use of the super-sticky PVA-type glues and have never had problems.

HAWKERHUNTER - Steve, I'll bear in mind the Micro Kristal Klear for the future.

    Thanks again chaps.

Ok chaps, so thanks again for the support on this build.

Below are some some close ups of the canopy and problem.

The glue, which I think is to blame is not a superglue...it has a pretty pungent smell that it reminds me of UHU and it is highly flammable. Data sheet here.

As I said, no idea what happened but the way I look at it I have four options:
      • Do nothing and pretend that the inside of the canopy is suffering from a misting-up problem!
      • Try and take the canopy off and fix it - I think that is a recipe for disaster, so have pretty much ruled that out.
      • Cover the entire canopy in a tarpaulin to hide it all but that will spoil the look IMHO.
      • Do tarpaulins that have been folded back that cover the offending problems but still leave some of the canopy in view.

Let me know what you think.

According to the write ups on the glue you used it should be safe for clear canopies. Only thing I can think of did you use any superglue during the construction once the canopy had been glued in place. May be some fumes got up into the canopy, its a strange one. Other theory is some over spray getting inside when painting up the undersides, somehow finding a way through. I really haven't a clue Andrew. See if you can source a new canopy, one of the lads on this forum may have a spare kicking around. The Krystal Klear is a PVA, totally harmless and you can use it to make small glass windows it dries so clear.

I wonder if the paint you used around the cockpit has reacted with the canopy glue. In your photos it looks like PVS glue that hadn't fully cured. Maybe try leaving the model in a warmish place to see if it gets clearer.

Try Pete's idea Andrew. If it doesn't clear up, I doubt you could polish it out as it looks too crazed. I don't think a canopy cover would work with the pilot inside. Your choice of course. My course of action would be to find a cheap version of the kit, second hand or whatever, and replace the windshield. The rear section of the canopy doesn't look too bad in the photos.

Thanks chaps....whatever happened - and I didn't use superglue - I've had a think and, as has been suggested, it looks liked glare (or a misting problem ) from a distance, so I will leave it be.

That said I fancy doing another one but with the yellow tanks and so thanks to a money off voucher, I've already ordered another one for at least 20% cheaper than anywhere else! (rofl) They must be popular kits, because even fleabay doesn't have any going cheap.

Thanks again for the support and the thoughts on my problems I've taken the final set of pics, so I will upload them later this week.

I'm away with the outlaws at present but a little niggle in my head says I may have a spare canopy - if you can hang on until next week I'll check and let you know!

Thanks Steve but don't worry. I think trying get the canopy off will cause even more damage and from a normal viewing distance it often blends in with the glare off the screen and so I've decided to live with it.

                  Thanks again.
