Build a flying model aeroplane ( HARKER NOODLE ) from a pool noodle FUN BUILD PROJECT

At the moment it does not look like much but just wait and see what I make from a pool noodle,if you want to build one yourself then tag along and follow the instructions.

First cut one 18 inch length of pool noodle,take some 1/32nd balsa sheet and glue it around the noodle.



You can use ordinary PVA dhesive to glue the balsa to the noodle,bind tightly with masking tape like this.



Sand the covered noodle well.



Next cut the ends off level and sand flush,cut two discs one of ply for the engine mount and one balsa sheet for the tail portion,more later on that when we come to it.



Use plenty of adhesive for the engine mount,clean off surplus.





You will now have something looking like this,sand the ends smooth,this will be the fuselage but wait and see what we do to it !

Now the round fuselage has been constructed we can turn our attention to the tail surfaces,this is how it was done.



Balsa sheet serves well for the tail surfaces,to simplify things the rudder is the same shape as the elevators.



A slot is cut out to receive the tailplane which is firmly glued into place,pins are inserted to hold things level while the adhesive sets.



Next the fin is added with some side gussets to hold things level,note the centre line marked in pencil on the fuselage.



Next the wing pylon parts are cut out and assembled,everything on this model is functional and designed for simplicity.

The lower wing cradle is added plus the simple lower wing is mounted.

Todays progress on the Harker Noodle.
Barbecue sticks for wing struts and depron underfloor heating sheet for wings with spruce strips on leading edge.
The pilot has the luxury of a scooped out pool noodle cockpit with built in padding.
Just wait and see this simple aeroplane fly !
