Decals look excellent barry , shame they werent around when I did my Hind F a while back , I ended up having to scratch most of the details. As for the offer of a free set , very generous but unfortunately the one im doing for the GB is a D model , completely different front office plus ive already got the Pavla resin cockpit for it . I mentioned that the instructions are quite poor. Look at this.
This page identifies ‘two versions’ one with open hatches and one with closed hatches. You follow which one you want, obviously.
On this page you can see that the engines are supposed to only be used for the version with open hatches
just to make things more interesting there are four colour schemes referred to as versions 1-4…. So two different versions of the use of version…….
Now wanting hatches closed I did not install the engines….
So I then find that to install the exhausts on the ‘painting version’ I was building needs the engine to fix them to and I have no way to fix the exhausts to the airframe…….
So, I am going to have to build a different ‘paint version’ to what I intended that has a different exhaust system that can cement direct to the airframe……. Specifically ‘painting version one’, as all three other ‘painting versions’ need the engine installed.
This does not detract from this being a good kit, it’s just these awful instructions.Comment

That kind of sucks Barry but that kind of thing is why I closely study the instructions on eastern block models, not that I have built many, just enough to know there will be surprises further on.
Looking at the last photo you posted I think you should be able to get the main parts of the turbines in so you can continue with your intended plan.Comment

One company I worked for used to subcontract the production of operator's manuals & parts lists to an outside company, they used take photos & convert them to line diagrams & a technical author used to write the spiel. This was circulated for comments/errors & after about 6 cycles, it was published. The problem was the outside companies weren't really savvy with engineering concepts. With the advent of CAD, whole process was much shortened. I even wrote some of the technical stuff myself, until other projects diverted my time.

A couple of close ups of the cockpit before I close it up. You can really appreciate how good these 3D decal sets are. All the detail is really from this set.
I am busy adding various ‘lumps and bumps’ on this very lumpy and bumpy helicopter, working to get it ready for primer.
Ps. I do like this new photo upload system, by the way, it makes it a lot easier to put the right picture in the right place when using a phone.Comment

Those 3D print things sure do make a cockpit pop. That looks amazing.
The bird though maybe not as sleek does look rather more aggressive with those big EES boxes bolted on the sides.Comment

After sealing the joins with Micro Krystal Klear I sprayed the clear parts with the cockpit interior colour.
There are a lot of parts held back for final fittings ready for priming.
I am using my Topnotch airbrush with a spreader cap for painting the primer.
Here she is in her sexy black undies.
All in all she looks good. Just some minor work in a few places to do then on to painting.Comment
