Got some more of the painting done, first time with the airbrush. primed and painted, had to spray over my initial attempt on the nose cone with a humbrol spray can. in retrospect i should have assembled it all, primed and then painted to ensure a nice finish. learning curves!

Hi Lachlan
Looking good so far. Hope you’re enjoying it. If you need to, you can improve the spray finish by allowing the paint to gass off for a few days (basically dry right out) and then polishing the part with T cut or Tamiya polishing compound.Comment

Thanks, Tim! I may try that if another light coat doesn’t improve it.Comment

update on the engine block! i airbrushed the three new parts added, what a difference it makes! it’s just a shame that the rest of the hand brushed work is so shoddy:tears-of-joy:Comment

Cheers! I am having fun, I just wish I’d started with an airbrush! I have a couple of kits in storage whilst I work on my technique, as I want them to be quality :tears-of-joy:Comment

Hi, if you want to start the engine again, although what you've done looks good, you can always use VMS Clean slate, works a treat used it myself. I found that knowing you can rewind the painting it makes it easier to do, not so daunting.
Have fun, that's the main thing.Comment

job for tonight : continue on with the engine. this part involves lots of fiddly painting. i’ll probably prime all the parts first, then handpaint them. the journey continues!Comment

Coming along nicely Lachlan :smiling3:.
When it says surface primer it didn't mean the surface of your desk:tears-of-joy:.Comment

Lachlan,
been there, done that! I've some abstract green patches under my workbench.............
Now, if I'm brush painting, I use a pallet, and if I'm on the airbrush, I use plastic shot glasses to mix up the correct consistency - At no point is an open paint pot ON my bench, it's only open in my hand. If I have an accident, it's only a small amount that needs cleaning up...............
