I had to rework the donkeys eyes the second time so that he focused on the snake...which I painted as well...

Hope you like what you see. Now to mate it with the Dio and final detailing

    Cheers,

Looking good Richard. This is a simply idea but fraught with problems and complications. The lighting, the interaction between the figure, the donkey and the snake and the overall composition are all issues to sort out. You are doing a great job.

If only I could do a continuing Dio of the terrified donkey stomping on hissing Sid with eyes bulging...that would be funny...

          Cheers,

Thanks Jim. The simpler the idea, the more complicated the execution gets...there is no where to hide imperfections. And when you add lighting, painting becomes a challenge. So far I hope it's turned out okay and respectable.

            Cheers,

Thank you Scottie, glad you love it. I'm also glad it's near done.

I'm calling this done. The only angle I could get without the lamp lights creating extra shadows. Will try again with morning sunlight...more photos in the completed section tomorrow

The coat of Matt varnish helped bring out the details which were covered by the shine from areas worked with glazing.
Phew!!...Painting and Dio done within two months. The sculpting was an on and off thing spanning a couple of years before COVID.

                Cheers,
                Wabble

Superb imagination and execution - can see this getting a big gold medal.
