How nerdy are you about your builds?

I'm curious to find out if our modelling com unit we have on here goes the whole hog on a build so check out the pole and choose which group you belong too

And if you want you can tell us why

Just noticed group a is a title so if you in group a just put the letter in the reply box

    I ticked 'D' but I'm a reformed 'A'.

Nowadays I won't spend a fortune on extras to make corrections that, frankly, only I will know about. I will make simple corrections myself. I'm not averse to filling or repositioning panel lines, filler ports and the like. I'm not going to re-shape a nose or take a few millimetres off a wingspan....no sireeee!

Where I do get a bit anal is the painting stage. I like to get my camouflage and colours as correct as possible, but doing this doesn't cost anything except time and effort, apart from all the books. It's also the bit which I most enjoy.

This is definitely an 'each to their own'. There is no right or wrong way of building your models, as long as you are having fun then you must be doing it right

    Cheers

    Steve

A big shameless E in terms of shape, although I am drawn to oddities for markings and camo so a bit of D as well.

I can't seem to vote for A, but that's what I'd go for.

I'm in the E group , when I was younger though I was defiantly in the A group , I knew it all we'll I thought I did and then having kids calmed me down and I forgot most of the things I knew so if it says it's a spitfire mkV then that's what it is

There's not wrong with being a perfectionist though in fact I like to see builds that people have spent time on to get that authentic look

Not sure which group I am in !

Want what is in the box authentic. Will consider PE but depending on what it is.

Certainly will moan at the either retailer or the manufacturer if I am not satisfied, reasonably that is.

If you buy a Wessex then find it has been a Sikorsky model. Then find that the landing gear is Sikorsky and not Wessex then that in my book is cheating (plus a lot of other things). The Sikorsky has three arms the Wessex 2 legs and it is not possible to alter. That annoyed me.

I'm more than happy to build what I find in the box.....Full stop!

No offence intended, but I just refuse to buy aftermarket stuff at the ridiculous prices being charged...usually more than the kit!

Don't misunderstand me, I do admire folks who do get this stuff.....but I would far rather buy another kit with the dosh saved.

The only element of modelling I do try and get summat like is the colour call out.

I put myself as a C cause sometimes i will buy a kit that i realy like and if i have spent a lot if money buy it but other that so long as looks like somthing on the box.

I went for D, as i do like things to look right, and be as close as possible to right,

but real whos to say what it was real like, in the 1st place , only its right on the plans ,

and i agree with Ron over costly PE and some adds , i just dont have the money for

so i could also be E,

and most things were changed and altered to suit the time and place,

Not really a place for me (like always lol)

I either go truly mad on detail, or I just don't bother

                          went C
