The thing is when it comes to being a parent there is no such thing as an expert as as bringing kids up is a law unto itself , I myself have proved the mamby pamby way to bring up your kids is a recipe for disaster having brought up five very good kids and have been told right a book lol

All kids are different we've had good sleepers and bad sleepers all you have to do is work through it.

      Interesting stuff this.....

It made me think back when our two lads were growing up...

I really don't know how they survived, if you base our bringing them up attitude into consideration.

We always took them camping until their early teens.

A two yr. old enduring two hours lying, no strapped down in a carry cot on the rear shelf of a V.W camper.

      Water from the stream.

Milk straight from the cow - take your own container to the dairy. My missus used to wash the nappies in the dairy sink!

Cuts? A quick dunk in the surf.

      Feeling ill? See above.

Making bonfires from drift wood, then staying up 'till all hours poking the embers with a stick whilst their parents enjoy a few beers. The following night, up all hours, all cuddled up, lying on the grass, counting shooting stars.

Sell by date. What was that? Did it smell off? No, then we ate it!

Digging a hole in the bracken for a toilet. One child slips in...a quick dunk in the surf!

Anti biotics, no chance...cry all you want, early to bed and sweat it out.

Thank god we now have two strapping 40 yr. old sons and numerous grand children.....but by today's parental advise, my wife and I should have been locked up!!!

I feel so sorry for modern parents....Children = 'experts' = by the book = conveyor belt.

        You are so right Ron.

However I put all of these problems down to people not eating enough sprouts.o_O

We just made it up as we went along, though SWMBO did read a few books, a bloody waste of time that was. We did have two eminently sensible mothers whose experience we could, and did, draw on. They hadn't killed us so they must have done something right

Both our girls have survived 'til adulthood and are doing well, we didn't kill them either! I was advising some young relative who had just had twins not to panic! Babies are a lot tougher than they look, as indeed are all youngsters.

          Cheers
