Cheers joe I agree but it's nice to talk to fellow modellers face to face and it's a good laugh

I found a local club a few month ago, I use the word "club" loosely as it's a group of a dozen or so like minded modellers that meet up once a month for a chat and a cuppa.

There's a good mixture of types, aircraft, figures, vehicles, and it's not too serious, there's always a good laugh. Everyone brings along something whether a finished kit, work-in-progress, or something still boxed and it's like a show and tell, it's always a grin and very educating.

....and it's a tenner to join for a year and your membership card gives 10% off at the local model shop (Hannants!). Go figure.....

Well done Alan it is nice when you get good feedback at the local club. I went to mine a couple of weeks back and took three of my builds the F-4, A-4 and the pickup dio and all were received better than I could have imagined. The dio got the most attention to say I was chuffed when I left would be an understatement.

That's great terry it seems that a lot of us have had a positive response from clubs and that's good , I haven't met all in the club yet there were a couple on holiday but judging by what I've seen so far I think if there are any elitists I'll just be ignored and that's fine by me

I keep being determined to start a club then finding a million reasons why not to start a club.

I have never ever seen any other person's model. So I do not really know that my standard is not that that would change I suspect even if I belonged to a club.

The only club is one run by model train enthusiasts. In Jersey we have 3 shops with small departments for the plastic model making fraternity so there must be a need amongst the Island population of 100,000. Been in touch with the local paper and they will do a spread. Also one of the model shops I am sure will sponsor adverts and the setting up of a club.

Got to get the urge. Problem is I have belonged to two organisations and ended up more or less running them which I do not want again as it takes some of the enjoyment away.

Has any one been involved in starting a club or been one of the first there in a new club ?
