Another ex-biker life story up until 18 months ago I was a work alcoholic 7 days and every hour - then I got slower and slower tired all the time turns out my aortic valve had gone hard and crispy no not the real medical term but sums it up pretty good.

I had a replacement fitted and now I tick it’s a metal one so need to take rat poison everyday for the rest of, but just about back to full strength.

While I was waiting for my op I decided to go back to building models and my biggest interest was Moto gp followed Valintino Rossi for years so I started building his bikes. I rode one myself for years until my daughter came a long and she just turned 21 yep getting older.

About five or six years ago a bought a Yamaha xt660r just for the hell of it and quite enjoyed it, not the big powerful thing I wanted but figured it might be safer to ease me in .but never seemed to get the time to ride so sold it after I got out of hospital it was 5 years old with 3k on the clock - since I have gone back to work I am really struggling with the day to day stuff so just before Christmas we discussed selling the house renting somewhere for the kids to live (19&21) and taking a worldwide trip, plan is to fly to Canada and work our way back over a year or 3.

Recent events have made this even more poignant with the passing of my brother law very suddenly at 50 never ill in his life reasonable fit and active - just goes to show you never know what’s round the corner so fu*k it let's go do it.

That where I am, and still no time for hobbies.

But I figured life is for living no matter what you do with your spare time as long as you enjoy what you’re doing

Did a few "track day type laps" many years ago round Oulton Park, Donnington, Silverstone etc in my old Rover V6 (it paid knowing someone who worked for "uncle Bernie" doing the timing for the F1) , used to love it.... apart from being buzzed by all the 13/14 year old kids in the corners in their MG whizzy things

My claim to fame is that i overtook Bruno Senna on the straight :tropthy:

Well i enjoy working on cars. Whether its my own or someone else's. Do downhill mountain biking every couple of weekends. So much fun and a huge rush. One wrong move and your into a tree. They have a nasty habit of staying in your way. Been playing football (soccer) since i was 6 and watch the EPL every chance i get. You'll Never Walk Alone

I don't have many hobbies, but when I get time I like to hunt, go mounting biking, a bit of skiing when I'm allowed But the ARMY takes up all most every minute of my life.

I think i need a motorbike to fit in on here lol.

For me it's gardening (still wondering if my tree ferns have survived the winter) and my old classic cars, both of which finally hit the road together for the first time in about 5 years, so far we've managed one 'full squadron scramble' with wife and kids.

We did 3 laps at our own pace. Yes you can go around it like a nutter but as you say it's not a fogiving track especially if you get it wrong. Each lap was faster than the one before but still noway faster than some people were doing/attempting it. It only cost me 20Dm a lap which was about £8 a lap at the time (shows how long ago it was). I would love to go around it again at some point though. Defo a must do if you have the chance.

i have only ever rode a motorbike twice in my life and crashed twice,at very low speeds,no injuries just bruised ego.the first time was quite funny as a mate had a bike and says "do ya wanna go". i had been riding a push bike for about twenty years and when i sat on it he says to me dont use the front brake as it is very sharp and will lock up on you if you dont know what your doing,ok i say and off i go.i did not know that the back brake is not on the handlebars and did not know how to stop.had to drive it into a 25 ton pile of sand to stop. never gonna get on one again.

I did a few laps twenty odd years ago in my then boss's automatic 3.5 litre Rover whilst working on Rock am Ring. I don't remember the year but I was there with a soon to be very famous Aussie band whose singer came to a sticky end in a Sydney hotel room. Totally buggered the car up,set the brakes on fire amongst other misdemeanors. Automatics are not ideally suited to track type activities LOL.The car had to be taken on a trailer to Bonn for repairs. To say the boss wasn't happy would be something of an understatement.

I also took a forklift around most of the Grand Prix circuit before being intercepted by a very irate German gentleman. I thought the forklift handled remarkably well all things considered.

Tell that to young people today and they won't believe you!

I am a twice retired biker - the first time at age 18 when I got my first serious girlfriend, and then again a couple of years ago when we moved to a house with no garage; I wasn't happy with my Triumph 955i Daytona sitting on the drive for all to see!

Not a biker but I run my Van Diemen RF86 in the Northern Formula Ford championship (Oulton Park, Anglesey and this year - Donington) I'm not that quick but enjoy it. It takes up a lot of evenings and weekends. Other than that, I like music, food and wine!
