Originally posted by \Well, I've just caved and bought the Dornier Do17z & Paul Defiant Dogfight Doubles: http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8414/We know the Dornier is a New Tool as it was released barely a month ago, but the re-released Paul Defiant makes no mention of New Tooling so will be interesting to see how this turns out!
I have to say (and I know I'm going to get shot down for this, but saying it anyway!), the Paul Defiant looks a lot like a Hurricane with a turret slapped into the fuselage, and we've see new tooling Hurricane's this year :P
http://www.airfix.com/news/airfix-2015-ipms-scale-modelworld-announcement/On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.Comment

Originally posted by \Ah, I was duped by this very box - is that the one with Neville Duke's Spitfire? Says on the back of the box. If so, I attempted that with this build: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/community/threads/under-construction-me-bf109e.28697/As you can see, it did not go well and I have yet to attempt the Spitfire...Comment

Although I notice on the 2nd January that the page still says it's expected yesterday: http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8414/
Also no e-mails saying it's been posted yet.

Originally posted by \The problem with that is after a short time they are no longer 'New Tool'. For example the 'New Tool' 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk was revised and renumbered from A02205 to A02005A. Minor changes were made to the instructions, landing gear and I think the cockpit. The old version would still be considered to be 'New Tool' as in new generation but is not the latest version available.I have put kits back on the shelf thinking they were old tool to later find out they were new tool I'm happy that I now have a fair old stash ferreted away and won't be buying anything for a while as most of my kits could be classed as retro (ebay and car boot sales) and its more fun trying to polish a pebble into a diamond at times.

Also you've got to watch the new tool tag as well , take the 148 mossie pr xvi, this kit looks like it's an old old kit but with more upto date sprues added to make a different mark on the surface of it it looks like new tool Parts made for this kit but when you put it together you realise that although the parts are more modern they are infact from an old kit so all they have done is mix two kits , one very old and one newer but not what we would call 'new tool'Comment
