What a laugh. I saw this on the news last night and could not believe it.

I think the woman must have her head in her hands at the moment. She has most of England incredulous that any body could be so mean and petty. Quite amazing.

Courts can only make decision on lawful things not on the morality of the case. The Magistrate can of course express an opinion on the use of court time. What is the betting she has withdrawn the claim. Love to see it go ahead and see all the national papers there. Bet it would make headlines on the front page of a number of the papers.

Amazing you have to pay to go to some ones party now. Our 4 kids had their parties at home. Loads of sandwiches filled with lots of fresh food. Old fashioned jelly and blancmange plus ice cream. Bananas in a custard. Apple Oranges and loads of fizz. Old fashioned games and all the kids went home happy and tired.

Two questions:

1) Does she realise just how much trouble she's caused for her son who will now be teased mercilessly by his mates?

2) Just exactly how does she end up out of pocket? If he didn't show, she didn't need to buy anything extra. If she'd already bought tickets etc. she should charge the other children's parents as well - it's not an extra if it was included in the original invitation.

Angel Delight - uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Daughter made one the other night (sure they were bigger back in my day) we both sat in the lounge watching the TV and ate the lot. #Strawberry flavour.

When I first heard about this story I thought the woman had a nerve but on reflection she has a point, but not with the invoice and threats of court action.

It takes a lot of time, effort and in some cases expense to organise a children's party - ask me how I know. We might scoff at the activities this lady arranged for such young children but that isn't the point. She extended an invitation to her child's party that was accepted and based on this she paid out good money. To later have the invitation not taken up without any apparent attempt to alert her is just plain rude. If there had been more children not attend after the expense gone to this lady's expense would have been multiplied.

My daughter recently had to pass up a party invite that we had previously accepted but due to chickenpox she couldn't go. Maybe it's just my upbringing but I had the conscience to take a card and small gift to the party and explain my daughter's absence which was well received and a little party bag offered in return.

Being courteous is inexpensive to give but priceless to the recipient.

Thing is though there wasn't any contact details available so they couldn't but you can't bill people for none attendance that is rude and out of order if you ask me , I've organised quite a few in my time having five children but would never have the nastiness to ask for money money back that's shocking
