Bit the bullet and bought a (relatively) cheap light box. When taking photos of models up to now, I've just been using bland backgrounds, eg: cardboard, white paper, etc, but not really happy with them, so a light box could be a nice upgrade, we'll see.
Got it off Amazon, Its a fold up one, bit like one of those festival tents that curls up into a small circle.
Its just over 24"x"24" (600+x600+mm) and I think its 24" (600mm) high too.
Comes with various backgrounds, white, black, blue, green.
The front and top had openable velcro panels.
Comes with two LED light strips.

I used the lights from an old one of these to illuminate my spray booth.
They do work reasonably well, few pitfalls which i will leave you to discover and overcome

it's WAY out of proportion for the work I did, but I'm very grateful, and you will certainly some of these appearing on this forum at some stage

                      So a few arrivals..

Some cheap brushes for those grubby little tasks I don't want to risk decent brushes on, cheap tool for marking out styrene and scenery, more grass blobs, and some wheel 'masks' (don't need the five I got but they were bizarrely cheaper than one on their own).......oh and a kit..... ....and much more modern than I usually do......

Shocking news.....this latest acquisition is not a kit.....

                        ........I'll just sink in for a moment.....not a kit......

So I am a massive fan of the WW2 Podcast 'We Have Ways of Making You Talk'***. If you've not heard of it, this is hosted by two Brits - the military author James Holland and comedian Al Murray, who is also a WW2 nut. They also have a wide range of guests from across the globe, most notably the US military historian John C. McManus when they do episodes focussing on US topics.

Anyway, James and Al have just finished a series on the the British reconquest of Burma after the defeat by the British 14th Army, of Japan's 15th Army at Kohima and Imphal.

In it they briefly touched on the story of a US citizen who, after initially serving with the British Army in North Africa, joined the Indian Army and served as an officer in the 8th Gurkha Rifles. They mentioned that he's written a very good book about his time in the regiment.

It sounded too interesting to pass up and whilst I could only find it in the US, it was only about £12 delivered and arrived in a little over a week.

                        ACW as usual

                        Andrew

***You can find the podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts....and probably elsewhere too.

Wow, will have to look that up, my Dad was out in Burma and fought at Kohima. He survived the war, but he rarely talked about it.
He passed a few years ago well into his 90's. I've read a few books on the subject, some proper old school, close quarter, hand to hand stuff went on. Thanx for the info....

pjgtech - interesting to hear about your father's service....especially given it was at Kohima. As you say, it was often very nasty hand-to-hand stuff as I understand it. If you've not read it look up George Fraser McDonald's 'Quartered safe out here'. Also, In looking the book up, I see the BBC did an hour long radio dramatisation based on it a few weeks ago....https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002g34c

A recent one was very good......walking thro the alleys and roads of Oosterbeck tracing the route Urquart took to get back to his hq after he went walkabout

loads very interesting vids they done

This arrived this morning, great service from John as usual 👍

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while, it’s had a bit of a panning on a certain other forum though for the fuselage being slightly too big but it looks pretty good to me.
It will be interesting to see how it looks when built up 🤔

                        Geoff.
