Even though I'm not bothered about the doodabs one way or the other I have voted yes as a lot of people do like them and those that don't like them don't have to use them

So it's a yes from me

The Olympic medal award is a great idea I think

Unlike some people im not great at putting into words what im thinking so the Doodabs come in handy for me. They were handy for letting someone know that you either Noted, agreed or disagreed, with something & not just for Great Build.

Beat me to it John got up determined to have a democratic rather than dictatorial decisions. Forums like Flory Airfix Brit Modeller are good. But it is like living in London you rarely meet any one you know.

SMF is like living in Jersey. Walk down the high street and I can meet 3 or 4 people I know in 15 minutes and stop for a chat. Very nice. The icons I believe help that. For instance leaving a funny remark can be sarcastic or funny. The icons can decide on that. The alternative type "this is in the fun bracket". Worse not have so much humour which abounds on this Forum totally unlike any others

Amazing I always think that English people (I am one) like to tinker or wreck things that are working perfectly.

Presumably those who do not like the icons do not use them or take notice of them. Rather like reading a paper you bypass the things that do not interest you.

I have voted no because it was me wot started the initial thread, so I have to stick with that.

One thing I might just add if I may....These doodahs don't make it that different from all other forums. It's John and Ian's running of it. The moderators and all the great members who make up the rank and file....A true testament of this forum is the rarely seen involvement of the mods in their official capacity - the members sort it out themselves.....

That is what sets this forum apart.....not Doodahs.

                Cheers all,

                Ron

I voted 'no' because the great build gongs are used too frequently & IMHO leads to people being less inclined to say something useful.

It is the members that make this forum welcoming & fun, not the icons.

We've had the various choices in place for ages - is there not the chance to go without them for a while & see how things go? After all, the forum functioned perfectly well before their introduction.

I voted yes because I have to hit the reply button to select previous posts to agree or let a member know I appreciate his humor, it's a rather long post when I catch up with a thread and agree with 2 posts and laughed at another.

                          Seems not Patrick.

Used too frequently I suppose you could have a point , but stops people posting ? I don't think a great build gong will do that

I think this has more to do with your personal mission to help if you think someone needs it , I get the feeling you think you can't post if people have given it a great build gong

I would say to anyone who thinks this way that you can post what you like in any of my builds no matter how many great builds doodabs it has.

I voted yes because they are an available tool. Use them if you want to or leave them alone if you don't. It's a shame it wasn't discussed before they were removed.
