    Just had a big fight!

Some of you may remember I made another sunken U-boat model for a commision build. I messed it up by being to nice and agreeing a £50 fixed fee for materials and a small amount for me-I should have asked for at least the material costs upfront...but what's happened has happened.

The guy faffed about and gave excuses that he couldn't afford it and will pay half next month etc, now this guy is a drinker and will spend that in a weekend...he just doesn't want to pay. I was miffed and told him to sod off. But what really made me angry was he was then telling other folk that the model isn't good enough hence that is why he isn't paying. I know it is crap and that he just doesn't want to part with the money and this excuse is his get-out so he doesn't look bad.

I have told him I am talking him to court for slandering my name and work. He has seen the previous sub and was impressed, I think that this one is better. He threatened to burn my shed down and all my models-I told him okay do it but he will locked in it when it goes up.

I get on with you guys, my boat club, mates, even strangers. So why the hell do I seem to attract certain idiots with my models? No more, all for me, no more making stuff for anybody, just not chuffing worth it.

This is sub in question all mounted.

It's damn good ....... Trouble is there are so many of those damn idiots around. Just try selling a car and they all seem to crawl out from under their rocks.

Sorry to here that mate I'd never do a commissioned build unless the person bought it and the materials for me to do it and then a bit for myself

You spend all that time and money on doing something for someone else and it's thrown back in your face its total rubbish mate

But look at it this way stick it on eBay and I bet you'll make more than he was willing to pay for

Sorry about all of that Si. Regret there is little you can do. Court costs and all the aggro will cost you more than it will him.

After I retired I took to filming weddings. I would not set foot out on the day let alone in the church unless the money was in the bank.

One bod messed me about. Told me I was the only wedding service who had asked for payment before the wedding. Big big lie as I knew the photographer and flower person. Amazing part was he had signed a contract to pay before the day. No money no Video. Did not turn up did not trust him. Could have sued him but not worth it so lost a £1000 (but gained 60 hours of my time back for myself).

Found out later he made his money by loaning out the lolly on second hand cars. Says it all.

What a knob that guy is! As I've said before, it's an excellent depiction of a rusted submarine Si, so don't let this drunken lying oaf get to you!

Cheers guys, another lesson learned-I don't do comps anymore and will do no commision builds from now on. I do know that there are some super buyers out there and it is just a few that are dicks. I suppose I am angry at myself for getting a bit big headed and not really thinking what I should have done-too trusting. I know he is all hot-air and nothing will happen-but at least he knows not to pee me off anymore. Job done and I have a nice sub that is on Ebay- would keep it but haven't any place to keep it-running out of room as it is.

Like I have said before my work maybe not be up there with the best but I was livid when he questioned the quality to try and justify for not paying for it...er, nope, not standing for that.

                Rant over.

If I was you Si, I'd remain open to taking on commission work because you've got the skills to do it.

Just stick to a policy of materials cost & 50% of the final price up front. If the buyer doesn't like the end result, you're not out of pocket, can refund the 50% & have a finished model to sell yourself!

Si that build is superb, don't let one idiot put you off doing commissions mate even if it only pays for another model, I still have to finish my bosses build (we've had a bit of a falling out) I will finish it, when I feel like it bit, she bought the models and paint up front so it's cost me nothing but my time, maybe you should do the same.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you're model, as I said before I wish I was half as good, the bloke is a numpty, you have him dead right he don't have the money to buy it so is trying to save face, I hate people taking the pi@@ especially of my mates.

Don't let the numpties grind you down.

Cheers Ken, he got me questioning my ability and even this site! I was thinking, maybe I haven't learnt anything from SMF so I am just wasting my time...luckily it was fleeting and I then I got angry-with myself and then at him...HOW DARE HE!

If I ever do a commision build in the future I will think before saying yes...material cost up front even if I do not go for a percentage for me-not being out of pocket again.

Most kind to say Patrick, appreciate it. I know the model isn't that bad, in fact it is rather good-even if I say so myself. I suppose I was shocked, then you question yourself and then I was angry.

Great advice mate, thanks for that.

Great looking sub Si it's a shame some lowlife scumbag as done the dirty on you. Lesson learnt as you say.

You could just build something and put it directly on ebay. That way it would take all the aggro out of dealing with someone on a personal basis.

I am a genuinely nice guy and do far too much for people as it makes me happy.

I constant get crrapped on and I've decided 95% of people are not worth bothering about.

I'm not naive I know My faults but I don't deserve to be treated like that and neither do you. Don't waste energy and mental capacity on this boozing Pratt . Put some good music on and build some models instead haha
