Not good, she is trying to cause issues by the sound of it.

        Hey Ken , this is just a suggestion though probably futile, a punch clock {time clock}

        just set an hourly rate, overtime for more than 40 hrs.{time and 1/2 usually} and a night differential {usually 15 to 20 percent} and your problems will be solved, when I worked for the city{NYC} I gave back a promotion to management because it was a set yearly salary and being the newbie to the suit and tie crowd everything was heaped on me. After a week I was back in the field working by the hour with much less stress and making much more money.........Jim

          Let us know how you get on, Ken. I'm sure we'd all be interested.

              Good luck my friend, very difficult to start over at our age, maybe you should retract your notice and try to get along, just for the time being { while of course actively seeking other options} no sense letting her pull the rug out from under you, she's not going to give you a good reference anyway. Don't think she'll have trouble replacing you as there are many desperate for employment I'm sure, and they won't find out how awful she is till a bit later, meanwhile you could be on the bricks. Try to keep your emotions in check - stiff upper lip you know - and I think this plan will help to calm the Mrs. too knowing you won't be chucked out on your bum in two weeks ready or not. Don't be rash, think of what's right for you guys and to hell with her! ...........Jim

                She's already accepted my notice and has said she wouldn't take me back. You say there are lots looking for work, when they see what I've been using they will laugh at her.

                  The main thing with a CV is to keep it concise. One page unless you really need to spill over onto two........... and the most important bit is your "personal statement" at the top. Most employers (and particularly HR bods, who, in my experience are all bitter and twisted) won't bother reading the rest unless that grabs them first....... Good luck matey.

                      Good luck Ken hope everything works out for you. Bin man job sounds good early finish and a great way to keep fit with all that walking. Don't forget to register with as many agencies as you can as this is a great way to full time employment.

                          Hi all well one bit of good luck I have the bin job for when my notice is up, it's only a temping job at minimum wage but I'm only on 10p an hour above that anyway so no real difference there the woman said I could be permanent if wanted as they can't keep people, I have loads of other jobs to apply for just need to get my cv saved as a file the applications recognise on the net, still I have the printed versions I can take to employers.

                          My missus says if she hassles us too much about vacating the house to quickly she will threaten to leave as well, but she hasn't mentioned the house yet.

                              Nice news on the job front, it may not be the best but it is a two-fingered salute to your previous employer.

                                Just been reading all your troubles Ken. A bit in the dark about all this though. What was your job that you have terminated? Glad to hear you have found another job, even if it is emptying bins, it's a job at least, better than nothing until something better crops up. Good luck anyway.
