That was a funny read Leo! Whilst the guy puts up an interesting point of discussion, personally I'd rather build models than wonder why I build what I build

A dose of Imodium would perhaps help the poor fellow.

I didn't read all of it as it seemed very dull but my thoughts are the guy needs to chill out lol ,

on a personal note I'm bored of seeing German kits and much prefer British but that's just me but I do fail to see the attraction of German stuff most of it looks rubbish apart from the early early years of the Wehrmacht, panzer II/III/IV looked good as did the stug range but the panther and after were naff looking

Same as Alan. I read a few lines but became fed up with his constant effing and jeffing. Does he not realise young children could well read his tosh!

Anyway, I build what I want when I want, and don't need a foulmouthed idiot trying to sort of dictate to me just what I should or shouldn't build....

Could not agree more Ron. He obviously ran out of describing words.

Also agree read about 4 lines and became bored on line 2.

got bored and skip read........wouldnt be so bad if he knew a bit about aviation history and got his facts/figures right

and if you take it further, if hes saying you cant build german subjects 'cos of associated atrocities' then you cant build B29 Superfortress cos it would be associated with dropping the a bomb......or building lancasters since they would be associated with firebombing of Dresden

i think he must be a bit sad to spend his time 'researching' and writing this article...............needs to build more models lol lol.....wish i had that sort of spare time lol

German subjects are plentiful cos they sell,......just like every manufacturer has a spitfire or a P51 or F16 or MiG in their range

as for the comment of 'who take completely unrelated kits and put German crosses and swastikas on them. What is that about?'......he obviously dosnt understand what ifs and 'luft 46' therefore i pity him :P

and the fact that he seems to want to influence what i build by somehow making me feel guilty means very soon im going to build a Panzer
                  Per Ardua

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been

Really? You don't think that sometimes feedback is slanted towards being too positive?

No, no that's a rhetorical question! We've had this discussion before & I'm not starting it up again!

Yawn...up to him, just leave the swearing out. I like the German stuff, just something about it, looks rugged and meaty-not always the best in real life though.

We could say the same on this site. Too many aircraft and armour, not enough sci-fi blah blah...who gives a toss, build what you want cos you like it-end of. Silly bugger.

I think the guys just crap at building German stuff so he's saying stuff to put everyone else off

Seriously though you usually find there's an ideological reason behind his rant , this line gives that away

                        I’m not saying anyone’s a Hitler-loving neo-Nazi. Well, not explicitly. ,

the last bit is not really a denial but a way of saying I am but if I put this no one will have a pop at me

Looks like they guy doesn't like German stuff. lol

I have a different view to making models than probably most in that I just enjoy building I don't really care if the left sided whatsit is not as straight as the right sided whatsit.

What I will say is that I have a very large Marklin model railway and all of the plastic buildings etc are German. Reason being I like the quality and there is a huge selection ... but most of all as I have said I just enjoy building.

In my view a hobby is something to relax and enjoy and should nor be taken too seriously.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, our hobby is around to relax and enjoy it. The great thing is that we have a whole lot more choice today than ever before, yes there are still subjects in all genres that need covering but the big guys are getting there, we really are spoilt for choice, ok it may be frustrating if you build one particular subject and all you can do to continue in that subject is to build variations on a theme but surely there comes a time when boredom sets in, I mean I like pasta for example but I couldnt see myself eating it everyday for the rest of my life, you need variety in the hobby you choose and thankfully we have a variety to choose from whether its axis or allie.

Would this guy that had a rant not build a BMW or Nissan just because they are built by Germans and Japs? He probably drives a BMW and watches his fave football team on a Japanese built TV. And just another thought, does he paint he non-axis models using exclusively non-axis paints?

And also does he think that German and Japanese modellers dont build British or American themed models?

And also, perhaps axis aircraft etc gain an interest through our hobby because it allowed modellers early on in modelling history a chance to see the enemy equipment up close, after all models were initially used to identify enemy equipment on all sides.

And also, my grandfather would apparently wave his hands in disgust whenever he saw an enemy plane overhead during the war even though it was being chased by a British aircraft. He refused point blank after the war and until his death in 1972 to buy anything German or Japanese made although he found it acceptable to visit Germany for a holiday. And during WW2 he served in the army and shot and killed three Germans, one nco, one officer and a Hitler youth to whom he revelled in seeing him grovel for forgiveness before my grandfather shot him,it disgusts me that my grandfather was disgusted at what the Germans were doing when he could do things like that, I know that he was doing his job and had to kill to save others from being killed but to me its........ double standards.

Admittedly the Germans did do some atrocious things and their motives were unjustified but every nation has a certain amount of blood on their hands.

Crikey, I've had my own rant now!!! Sorry chaps and chapesses

There's a good reason for having swear words in any language you know. Like, what d'you say when you've just hit your thumb with a hammer? If you use that language all the time, you have nothing left to say when stuff goes wrong.

It's no wonder this poor bugger has nothing better to do!
