mate, as an aussie, I find that hilarious. To think that a bear would just rock into your garden, have a go at the bird feeder and leave.....

I'd rather a bear than some of the items of Mother Nature's arsenal you lot have to contend with!

true, I have stepped on a snake once, and it was a deadly type.

I have also seen a kangaroo on our road once

                    What fantastic pics.

Things that appear in our garden always seems to be other people's litter.

I guess you have to be use to that kind of visitor or otherwise the next stage of his life would be as a throw rug in front of the fire place..... ^_^

They can be at times if one is not careful with the trash, must keep it locked in barn or shed until pick up. They are nothing to fool with though, one wouldn't want to be caught between mom and her cubbies as can easily happen at times. You'll hear her huffing and puffing and chomping her jaws ...if your lucky...then it's time to beat feet, hopefully in the right direction :/  There's been a real explosion in their population in the past few years along with deer, elk, moose, feral hogs (more dangerous than bears) and just about every other wild animal it seems. Just not enough hunters to keep them in check even though there has been a huge increase in predators such as coyotes, wolves, wolverines and mountain lions.

The mountain lions are the most dangerous though for you will never know they are there and you won't hear them until it's to late. So unless one is actually hunting it is best to make a racket, that takes them off their stalk and confuses them a bit as all prey animals try their best to be as quiet as possible.

One must always pack a bit of heat when venturing too far off the beaten trail....I like this one  .357 magnum, can split an 8 cylinder engine block in half with no trouble ^_^

guess you need a bit of safety when you go out (I would do that as well), but I sort of blanched (as an australian) when my US buddies showed me their hunting gear- A Heckler and Koch Mr 762 assault rifle and a few hunting rifles coupled with an AR 15  O.o
