well guys. sorry i have not been on much recently. im sure you guys can guess what my industry is like during the "festive" season. i have been doing 12-15 hour days 6 days a week since the end of november and its nearly all over! cant wait. got the 25th, 26th and 27th off as restuarant is closed so will make those 3 days well worth it. then rock on to new years eve which will be packed. busy busy busy!!! but then come january, back to 2 days off a week and a "normal" number of people eating in the resturant.

had tonight off and took the better half for a meal at my restuarant which she enjoyed. she has 3 days off this week so she is staying round tomorrow night and all wednesday which will be nice seeing as we have only been seeing each other once a week for a few months now!

anyway. sorry to rabbit on. hope every one is ok and to be honest i doubt i will have time to post again untill christmas day but rest assured i will be floating in the background reading everyones threads!

    have a good weekd guys!

well i can't wait for some time off too !-

we are busy building 2 new rides and a whole new themed area of the park, the new area includes a winged sea serpent model, 6 m wingspan and over 1.4 tonnes in weight-

been working on this since mid november and i am so looking forward to time off from the bricks !

my son however has LEGO on his xmas list so the dammned little brick will be gone - but only for a while !- i am sure to see the bricks once again on christmas morning !

he too has a pair of ready to run radio controlled RC F1 cars as a present and also a 2 ch radio for the boat he and i are building together.... so hopefully we will find some time during the holiday to do a bit more and we can fit the radio, the boat is a bog standard GRP hull picked up at a show a while ago- its does not appear to be a scale hull of any kind , it loooks to be some kind of bait boat type hull or a functional hull of some type, - but i have fitted two motors and i am currently building a speed controller/ mixer for the model so it will spin on the spot and will be very manouverable- ideal for my sons inexperienced boating skills- the deck is pretty much flat and functional just need to get my son to decide on a style for the boat, eg, tug, launch, or just a boat for his action man to ride in !

my daughter has a half built dolls house- which i also promised to complete- but have failed to do so.....( not such an issue as she is only 2 ! ) so it will be a few years before she appreciates the work that has gone into it so far, its an american kit and its very very intricate, ( add to that some poor quality timber in some of the kit parts) and its a time consuming project....i also have the model railway scenics sideline business is also taking off in a big way right now and taking alot of my time too, all this ontop of a full time job... there just is not enough hours in the day........

everything is sort of half started as i am pulled from one project to another !

my wife who is a qualified cabinet maker and french polisher is also doing bits on the dolls house , but she wont work on it now unless i do !

plus the kids take up every spare minute i have- but christmas is for the kids, and i cant wait for the 5am christmas morning wake up call !- it will be great to see the big smiling faces !

so you wont see me logging on around xmas- :-(

as i guess the wife will make the PC out of bounds in favour of family walks in the chiltern hills and ( maybe i get to take my rc electric park flyer too ! ) and loads of quality family stuff ... but look forward to reading hundreds of posts in jan when i return to work and the bricks and the seas serpent !!!!!!!!

so may i wish all readers and contributers to this forum a very merry christmas, best wishes to your families and have a prosperous new year-

        Guy ( new to trains)

What is wrong that the post office cannot make any money these days ? they burden you posties with too much rubbish mail when you should only be delivering letters/small packages,up the prices recently on parcels, and now are putting the prices of stamps up again in April ? you all do a good job but they take advantage to squeeze that bit more from our postmen.

I know how difficult and hard the job is as I too was once a postie many years ago.

I blame the government. But part of the problem is other companies are undercutting RM for sorting mail, but RM have (thank you Mr regulator) to deliver said mail and get paid peanuts for it. Look at your junk mail and see who has a postmark on it.

All these other mail companies are going to start delivering "regular mail" soon but at a guess the'll only pick up the big city (money making) areas.

For RM it could get very much worse.

When they had the National postal strike many years ago,a lot of small companies jumped on the bandwagon, those same people saw the potential in running courier services and did a really good job of it,many are still around today albeit integrated into larger carriers but doing well.

The sneaky post office were supposed to allow only seven items of junk mail per week for the postmen to deliver, what did they do ? well stick seven lots of mail into envelopes thus making more money from the advertising junk mail side, the poor postman had to struggle with even more junkmail in his already heavy mailbag.

Rumour has it that the amount of junk mail will increase in the new year.

Good news for those with coal fires and in need of a steady supply of "cleaning paper".

So how the hell are we supposed to train dogs to "Guard" if we don't have postmen to practise on?

We need junk mail to ensure the postman comes every day and keeps our canine freinds at the peak of thier performance!!!

Today i was nearly run down whilst using a pedestrian crossing ,little green man said WALK so i did. I walked in front of a car forcing it to halt the nice driver when I pointed to the little green man told me to go do something very unfestive (and humanly impossible).

(I was in my PO VERY LUMINIOUS jacket so no chance of not seeing me)

So I hope santa was watching the bad man.....no presents for him!!

                        Have a good one everybody.....

More sad news for the Doggett Family today. My nan (nigel.d Mother) passed away this morning. She was very ill and only had half a lung left (if you know what i mean) If i know the lady she can now tell my dad off for not listening.

Been revising a lot so i havent been online lately. Got an exam on monday which will be hard to do now.

Hope everyone's day is beeter than ours.
