Hi Richard, Paul, Chris (good to see you here!),Fernando, Steve, Brad, Jim, Bob & Julie, Monica, Pete and Lee , thanks for the great support, it's good to read
Hi Jim, yeah, the two youngest didn't really realize the concept of death yet (lucky chaps!) but Amélie had some difficulties with it. Wednesday evening she came out of bed and went to my wife crying. Some of her fellow classmates did understand her feelings but most didn't and that upset her as well. But you can't expect that from 8year olds or even sometimes from people who never had a pet I guess
Bob aka the StuGmeister & Julie, sorry to read that you had to go through the same, but good to read that you are taking care of a new member!
Lee: yeah, give the little critter a big hug and enjoy doing it indeed ^^
But last week we choose another moggie a rescue cat with a very sad story, he is at present hiding under my bedside cabinet! He comes out to eat and is a surperb hide and seek champion. Its my new project, get him to trust us then spoil him rotten. He will then realise that not all humans are scum
one of ours is a rescue.......i dont think she was abused, more neglected or mishandled........the rescue centre had even chistened her Heidi cos she always ran away and hid when ever any one walked past the pen,,,,,,and thats why we had her, to give her chance.......she spent the first two weeks hiding in the sofa, just coming out at night or when we wernt in to eat......we have had her 5 years now, she has just turned 6 and she has turned into a lovely kitty, still a scaredy cat at times but it makes me happy knowing she is having a safe loving life. they both get spoilt rotton
Per Ardua
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been
Thanks Wouter
I will. We rescued our cat he was dump on our county rd when he was a very small kitten just before Christmas 2013. He was very cold and started to get frost bite on the bridge of his nose. He’s a in side cat never been out side I promised him he would never feel the cold again.
What good people at present i am sitting on floor by the cabinet reading a book and talking softly to the newbie! Must be off my head, but like Felix before i WILL show him what love is all about. Might take months but so what worth every minute. All i can see is two large eyes!
My lovely Felix who sadly left 10 weeks ago was used as a drum by owners and was a wreck. It took about 6 months to get him to trust me but then we had 17 yrs together. Just put his tea down so will leave him to get stuck in
Our cats are all rescue cats,
the eldest 'olive' was stuck in a cage at the cat rescue centre, we just had to have her when we saw her. she's now 12 ish..(we never got a confirmed date of birth for her and she was about 4 yrs old when we picked her up)...She's the queen of the house.
Our other two, both boys 'Shadow and Milo', were dumped inside a box with two females (all from the same litter) outside a local vets at around 6 weeks old, barely old enough to even fend for themselves, undernourished and full of ear mites',
A friend of ours asked if we could possibly help her foster them for a couple of weeks, to which we agreed, the wife took a shine to the tabby..'Milo', so i agreed to have a second cat in the house, the third one, upon being let out of the carry box made a be-line straight for me, scrambled up into my neck and promptly fell asleep, which started a 'bonding' with him where we would never be far away from where i was.. So we decided to adopt him as well...hence his name 'Shadow',
The other two Kittens 'both females' stayed for a short while and then got fostered off to some friends of our son's..(who funnily enough were also female twins) ...so the remaining twins went to a pair of twins..lol,
All are doing excellent, both Shadow and Milo have never had it so good, they act like your typical teenagers, Milo is soft and loving whereas Shadow loves being in our sons room...(he even has his own chair..lol), but knows just how to play the cute card for food..lol
