Here is my den, its in the small bedroom but I do the spraying in the garage, not ideal. cold, dusty and not the best lighting. The stash is in the attic

in the next few years I feel we will move so I will ensure I have a dedicated room to do everything, Julie can have the rest lol

I have that Gandalf poster too! It used to be on the door to my hobby room, a looong time ago. Not sure where I put it, but it should be around, probably rolled up with other old posters somewhere.

pretty much the same as it was when i posted in 2013 .... same corner, same desk .... just re-arranged a few shelves :smiling:..

The pics on the wall are a flight of hawker hunters of the then Rhodesian Airforce. The spitfire F mk 22 (pk350) is the one rebuilt by jack malloch, taking to the air again on the 29/3/1980. Sadly however, it flew into a hailstorm on 26/3/1982 and both the pilot and the aircraft were lost.

Sadly it's not the original one I had back in the day. I don't know what inspired me to search it out online but it's still available. I love it and it makes me feel 16 again.....

Time to show mine I guess...
This is my home office / work space. It’s all mine which is the main thing, independent of the wife (mostly) and the children.

Not sure what category this sits in. Has all the hallmarks of a dining table setup owing to having to be put away a lot, requiring mobility (scalpels at grab height is not ideal), and is neither tidy nor messy.

You can see the mug of tools in the top left if you look close. This has everything I need and includes brushes.
The ‘near future build’ stash in the top right.
Draw of paints / glue / thinners / sundries in the bottom left. Since I make only FAA aircraft (for now) my paint needs are limited. There are a load of humbrol acrylics in there I don’t intend to use unless desperate, so still looks like a lot to me!
Also in frame is my WIP phantom with gloss varnish drying pre-decals.

This is my little bit of paradise. Not a huge space but enough for now. Sometimes could do with more room especially when I've got a couple on the go at the same time. Also it overlooks the garden which I must get done soon but with working and building it doesn't leave much time for gardening.Click image for larger version

I’m slightly envious of those of you who have a view out the window All I have is a window in the roof, looking up at the sky, and I have to keep the sunscreen down else I can’t see what I’m doing half the time.

It's cold in the winter but I have an oil-filled radiator plugged into a smart socket, so I turn the heating on from my phone when I leave work :thumb2: and it's nice and comfortable when I get home.
In this country hot is rarely unbearable so the summer is not a problem. I don't have a window, though, which would help with a spray booth (oh and,er, natural light, maybe...)
Neil, fear not with a bench in that condition I can offer full membership immediately ..:smiling2::nerd:

TBH, I wouldn’t mind not having that window. My hobby room used to be a photography dark room, but when some birds nestled under the roof at one point, they managed to dig all the way through. When that had to be repaired, we put a window in there to get some light into the room. Since then, I’ve felt on more than on occasion that I wouldn’t have minded it to stay a simple tiled roof instead.

I just installed a new addition to my hobby room to take care of this problem:

I’ve got an old sideboard-type of thing that, among lots of other stuff, I store my paints in. Unfortunately, though years ago the bottom drawer alone held all my paints, I’ve by now managed to fill both (each about 35 by 35 cm) two layers deep, and still had more than would fit. The solution I found yesterday was this second-hand toolbox:

(Note the bits of wood underneath, so that I won’t need to keep the space in front of the lower drawer clear ). It now holds the paints I don’t use all that much, sorted by brand (the second photo shows the Games Workshop drawer) so that my “main” paint drawers now look like this:

Oh yeah, and since I’m typing this in my hobby room anyway, I thought I’ll apply for membership in the cluttered workspace club while I’m at it:

Simple things are often the best. I have the same problem of having to keep the area in front of some little drawers clear. Never thought of raising the drawers. Off to the shed for some bits of wood. :thumb2:
