Short run model, has PE & resin parts - and is dainty! The old Heller & Airfix models are sooo last century! :rolling:
Can't ever remember making an Irish Air Corps model before.

Haven't done one in a while and I wasn't looking for a new car but as my old one needed a new clutch at a cost of 4-£500 so I put it towards the new one and sold my old one on a certain internet auction site and I made enough to buy it outright and pay for the tax came fully serviced and mot'd and a full engine bay clean.Click image for larger version

Is that what IAC stands for? I was wondering until I read that line. This just leaves FiAF — Finnish Air Force?

Hi guys. Having seen what a smashing job that Ken did with his Thermopylae, I've been looking for a decent sailing ship kit. I didn't want plastic 'cos I have no desire the spend half of the life I have left cleaning seam lines. I've looked at lots of wooden kits and most of them require you to make and shape many of the parts - especially the hull planking. This is the St Gabriel from Master Korabel models. All the parts, including all the planking are ready cut and shaped so hopefully it's only going to need minor seam work and filling.

Question though for all you nautical types. What on Earth is that big oval thing hanging off the side?

The big oval thingy is a leeboard. The board on the leeward side is extended to provide stability. These are shallow draft boats without a fixed keel so the leeboard acts as one in shallow water.
Love the idea of preshaped hull planking.
                Jon.

Thanks Jon. I had thought it was some kind of raft for rescue, but it looked too heavily built for that. A moveable keel is much more sensible.

It also allows the board to be pulled up to beach the vessel.

Do excuse the picture quality but I had left at the door 14 build the Titanic magazine's it going towards a build of RMS Brittanic in a scale of 1\250 it's going to be a long term project as I need to find all the changes details of the davits.
The 14 I have makes up the full length HullClick image for larger version

Thanks Tony, agree with you on the F-84F’s, although raised detail still very good, have built one before and now two in the stash all slated for Dutch AF markings:smiling:.
The special hobby Koolhoven is a little gem too, pe and resin to make a neat little trainer/scout (also built before :tongue-out3: )
                                Cheers
