And do not forget the old cement bags used to fill out the door panels before the half ton of filler was put on. First job I had when i left school was in a back street garge/car sales Alvis Grey Lady, Jags Mk 7,8 and 9, Triumph Roadster and then it was chop the roof of one Alvis to make it into a tourer. The Boss served as a rear gunner on Lancs. What an entertaining intorduction to a working life.

 In the sixties, when T-type MGs were just old bangers, a chap in our local MG club had a TC that had belonged to a plasterer, and one door was almost completely filled with pink plaster with a coat of gloss paint brushed over it. Another member bought a TA with low compression - when he took the head off it had a wooden piston!
