This must be serious if Matrons on her way in the heat to check on you John. And its a first to get a sad imoji from you...now snap out of it...do your build in your undies if the heat bothers you. I'm sure your man cave is safe and secluded.

See you at the bench, but first I'll hide next to Rick. :smiling2:

      Hi John

      gently gently catchie Mojo!

My renewed motivation is due to a return to work, but from home, so I'm motivated to do something else whilst waiting for the work server to try and log me on!

As it has already been said, when you "Have" to do something else, your mind wanders back to modelling!

Get stuck into a none modeling job, and even if it doesn't spark the mojo, its something less to do when you get back to the bench

Enjoy the unseasonal summer too, it might not last for that long?

      Regards

      Steve H

John, just a short post to say that you are not alone with this 'phenomena'. Lately - whether it's isolation or not - I can spend all day working on a model (or two), thoroughly absorbed, then the next I don't want to go near the bench. And recently I've taken to starting a model with great enthusiasm which dissipates halfway through the build and I have to start on something else before returning to the former some days later. Usually I have some insight into my mood variations but lately that seems to have deserted me also. Isolation is doing some mental mischiefs methinks.

Tim, must have fired me up because I've spent an hr looking at maps of the area, and just about to look at German armoured trains ! Pity there don't appear to be any photos of the actual attack. What a great story.
Just had a look at MiniArt wagons, would need 3 at £ 35 each plus the track. Pity as it would be a great diorama, something to think about.:smiling3:

The cave actually has two doors so a through breeze can be had. Today I finished a piece of jigsaw that was lost from a 1000 part one, cut it out to shape and thickened it up with card
painted in Vallejo and finished in satin varnish.

Hi Steve, iv'e been in the garden , but early as by 1100 was in direct sun, did a fair amount of trimming then back inside and finished that part above. Do think doing that part has made me want to do more painting.

Hi Murfie, strange times mate, makes you think it could be part of the problem. I ve never really had a major dip so this does seem strange.

Up to 18 months ago I was spending thousands on photographic equipment, I'd think nothing of spending £2k on a lens. Spending hours refining my fav which is macro photography, insects, abstract and flowers. Had some of them published as well. Then having gone the rounds, several times, in types and makes of cameras and lenses I woke up one morning and did nothing. Friends who had the same addiction have all gone through it. But now I take pictures for fun and its more relaxing. I get the odd twinge but nothing yet but one day the bug will bite. It's bloody expensive though. But then it was as much of a serious thing than a hobby. Perhaps too serious

However, modelling is different and the heat has stopped me in my tracks but I'm confident it will return. A Mosquito to build next. So relax and dont worry about it. It will return

Cheers Gary, funny enough I did the photo thing, Canon 5d, lenses, loved macro , landscapes which I loved. Then found taking photos of my models was easier with a phone !Now hardly use the camera .

It's true John it is. I was stunned to realise that many of the younger generation have never owned a camera. Times change. I do get frustrated a bit at the quality of my model shots as I dont have the lighting to do them justice. Ridiculous I know so now I take as good as I can and be done with it. I was just getting into full frame cameras and probably wise to stop. That IS expensive to keep up to date as a "hobby"

John, you're not alone with a lack of mojo, with it being so warm & having been on furlough for 3 months I'm struggling to find any motivation. Managed to book a campsite in the Yorkshire Dales, so at least that's something to look forward to!

I too had the camera bug, used to take shots of birds. I invested significantly in a Canon 7D and decent 100-400 L zoom lens and some primes etc, but I suddenly lost the urge and haven’t touched the camera for about 18 months....I think it coincided with me getting back in a bar band....I think I may have a limit on creative hobbies :tongue-out3:

Photography is so different now. My first proper camera was a Zenith-E Bulk loading 35mm cassettes. I used to spend hours, developing & printing - only black & white, because colour was far too complicated & expensive. I had a Gnome enlarger - I learned the art of dodging & burning. I can't imagine many people under a certain age knowing what they are! I flirted with Medium format ( Mamiya 645 ), but found that far too heavy & bulky! I ended up with a brace of Minolta bodies & a good selection of lenses. I saw the writing on the wall with the arrival of digital cameras, and flogged my kit quickly & invested in a state of the art Minolta Dimage camera. Lovely camera, superb lens - but ran on four AA batteries - you were lucky to get about 50 shots from one set, even less if you used flash.
I still have two film cameras, both inherited from my father, a Rolleicord & a Zeiss Ikonta ( which my father assured me he had 'picked up' in Germany at the end off WWII ) - they're both in deep storage in a safe deposit box - not because of monetary value, but sentimental value.
Now I use a Fujifilm Finepix SL240 - more features than I can understand, let alone use or need!

That will be great esp if the weather is kind Graeme, not as hot as this though.

That Mamiya must have been something Dave, is that like the Hasselbald medium. The price alone was frightening. Still pricey second hand .

                                John,
The Mamiya used roll film & took negatives 6cm X 4.5 cm. The Hasselblads took 6cm X 6 cm. The Mamiya was heavy, even with just the standard lens, and waist level finder - add an an eye level viewer and a long lens, and it was a real burden. I had to carry a tripod, if I was going to take long distance photos, and then it was unwieldy and slow! You had a certain amount of kudos using one of these, as they weren't that common & usually used by pro's. I had it about 2 years, before I finally traded it in for a Minolta SRT SLR, and two additional lenses ( direct swap, for new equipment ). My back felt the relief straight away! - Now that really is a byegone era. I have 'The Focal Encyclopedia of Photography' on my shelf - The basic physics of light & lenses hasn't changed, but at a guess that book is now almost a reference to arcane arts & practices!
