Glad to read that the crew were ok. Shame about the plane though.

Saw this last year. What a shame.
      Hoping the crew are ok.

Seems to have been 'false' in the original press release from IWM. It's been corrected here: https://ukaviation.news/vintage-sea-...es-at-duxford/

Isn't that something to do with the moon?

That is bad. That won't be flying again anytime soon, if at all.

At least nobody was killed, for which we should be grateful

I was working at the IWM when there was the fatal accident involving a P-38 in 1996 and the crashing of BF109G 'Black 6' on it's last flight in 1997. Lots of debate at the time about the airworthiness of vintage planes.

Accidents always provoke the discussion. It boils down to whether you believe that they should be flown at all. One camp believes that they should all sit in museums and the other that they need to be seen in the air.

What can be said is that to be maintained in flying condition means that they will not allowed to deteriorate as examples in even the best museums inevitably do.

Ironic name, the press say she's been rebuilt once after a crash so maybe a reference to that.

I've already seen two conflicting accounts of what caused the crash, from FB experts so I'll not speculate. (But I think one is wrong..... )
